strangeness in my cookies

I don't remember typing this but in my cookies or history file I tend to go to SL forum,etc off line is how I get here when I am lazy.
Today I noticed that my cookies read sl as http://sexondlife.com
but when I click it takes me to the regular site and account page.
Any one know why my cookies would behave this strange?

By the way I don't surf much except sometimes and I clean out my cookie crumbs regularly, have firewall, anti-virus, etc.

maybe you mistyped it once, somewhere? I just tried clicking on it and ended up on the normal SL page, but with the addition of a few numbers and letters in the address so it'll look like this-

Doesn't seem to be normal hex code tho.

It might be possible but it does become the url above you typed or something similar that how I get in but just strange that sexondlife.com would become the correct link. And very strange to me. LOL

I cleared mine for the first time the other day, forgetting what all I would have to do after, crummmmy cookies.

I don't go to any 3rd part site but no clue how that happpen or what you're referreing to alicia.
Anyway it just odd. Perhaps I mistyped it once a upon time this week.
Removed the cookies so now I have no more sexondlife.com not even sure what the site is or even if I want to see if it really exist.

I did do a search for this and some reason some site I found had that link but weird thing is sexondlife.com is secondlife.com when I clicked it.

(Like mentioned above...must learn to not read through a post quickly) I took sexondlife.com and put it in a browser and it works there and is the actual site, logged in and all...I was thinking maybe it just appeared wrong for you with the proper link behind it somewhere but LL has apparently registered sexondlife.com to direct people right to secondlife.

Yep I think secondlife.com and sexondlife.com are the same from what little search I have done.
I guess this is where we are get all the horny noobies they assume they are going to get sex.

One of the things anyone can do with a website they own is to redirect it to another site. This is often done when a company has multiple domains by which a user might choose to access their site, but want everything going through one domain. For example, unitedairlines.com will redirect you to united.com. It's also done when a company merges or changes hands, so cingular.com will redirect you to first to www.cingular.com and then to www.wireless.att.com.

There are no permissions involved in these redirections. What's happened in this case is that some unknown person has bought the rights to the sexondlife.com domain name, and then configured a web server at that site to redirect people to secondlife.com, adding some long string to the URL. It's not clear to me what they're getting out of it.

If you're interested in the technicalities, this is being done with a 301 http response, which I determined by running wget (a command line tool for downloading web pages) on sexondlife.com.

I was thinking maybe they were considering a misspelling of secondlife.com. The X and C are next to each other so its easy enough to hit sexondlife.com.

Though if it is forwarding, it beats me as to why someone would do this unless they're being paid handsomely for it
