max users per sim ?

I believe it's 40 for a mainland region and up to 100 for a privately owned island.

100 is a lagfest though. I have my island capped at 70...even at that number the lag starts to get pretty bad.

How much a sim can take really depends on what it's doing. If the whole thing is totally empty and you want to put 100 ruths on it, that'll probably work. If it's a really complex build with lots of scripted, physical stuff moving around and you've got people there with tons of high-resolution textures and attacments/HUDs that have 100s of scripts in them, the sim is going to run out of hoursepower before you even get to 40.

I have a region near mine, Iwo Jima, that's always maxed out at 40 :( It's all one castle, they seem to think they own the entire region.

I don't think that's entirely true any more. My understanding is that it's now approximately 40 max for a Class 4 server and 100 for a class 5 . . . and I believe it was Jack Linden who recently said that almost all the mainland regions are now Class 5.

That's subject to check, of course.

Most mainland are still at 40 AFAIK.

However, Isabel is set at 50 and has an InfoHub, so they may have increased the limit on sims that have InfoHubs.

Also, the default limit used to be 10 on an OpenSpaces sim, though with Class 5 servers they raised that to 40. I think you can still push an OpenSpaces sim as high as 100, but you'll regret pushing it over 30 to 40, because of the lag that would create.

Private island at 4,00 prims (of 15,000 total) with few scripted items and we had an event with 90 people in the same room on the island. Worked fine...

Surely it mostly depends on prims, textures, scripts and idiots wearing 4,000 prim doughnut costumes???

Yep. Jack said a few weeks ago that he thought _all_ mainland had been converted to class 5 hosts.

There may be exceptions for places like welcome areas and such but aside from those, all mainland regions are set to 40.
