I am doing a SL course, I am having few questions,
1. how to create a text dynamic display board? I am having a presentation on line next week, and I would like to create some display board to help me explain my design, can someone please teach me how to make it?
2. how to snap prims? I have been trying to create furniture, it is very difficault for me to have each prims at exactely where I want it to be, is there any tips?
3. What is good design for avators? I am having this assignment, it requires us to design something that express myself also functional to an avator's needs. I found it hard to create something like this, as a object loses a lot of function when being putted in a visual world.
4. How to create a screen that plays video in SL? I am a motion graphic designer, and I would like to display my portfolio on a screen in SL, is it possible, and how do I do it?
Thanks very much.

From: chungying Andel 3. What is good design for avators? I believe your answer is: From: chungying Andel I am having this assignment, it requires us to design something that express myself... If it is suppose to express yourself, then I don't think us telling you a good design makes much sense.

From: chungying Andel 4. How to create a screen that plays video in SL? I am a motion graphic designer, and I would like to display my portfolio on a screen in SL, is it possible, and how do I do it? Upload your videos to YouTube (make sure you don't disable embedding), then use this tutorial: http://blog.secondlife.com/2008/05/24/play-youtube-videos-in-second-life-video-tip-of-the-week-35/Alternatively, if you have webhosting with good bandwidth, you can upload the videos to your own server in Quicktime-compatible format and take the URLs from there, rather than putting them on YouTube.

True video? Save it in Quicktime .mov format and upload it to a webhost. Use a Freeview TV (available free in world) and use the video URL option to point it to your video file. You need to have permissions to change the land parcel media settings, or give the TV to the land owner or someone who does have those permissions so they can rez it for you. It won't work if the TV is owned by someone who doesn't have permission to change the media settings. If it's web content.. I believe you can get a static snapshot of a basic HTML web document onto a prim, but I've heard that it's not clickable and anything dynamic like flash, java, CSS, gif's, etc.. wont function. Haven't tried it so don't quote me on that.

2. how to snap prims? I have been trying to create furniture, it is very difficault for me to have each prims at exactely where I want it to be, is there any tips? Make sure the coordinates match.. Depending on which side the other prim is on, decides which coordinates need to match.. Like so: Two prim walls that have one to the left of the other - 134.139 - Horizontal (red arrows) 131.253 - Horizontal (green arrows) 31.934 - How high UP 125.333 131.253 31.934 The FIRST one is different because they are next to each other, but the other two match because they are the same in that aspect. .. I'm not too good at explaining stuff, lol. Patience is the best tip.

Search for Torley Linden's video on this, he explains it very well. For furniture, I believe 0.025 or 0.050 is a good grid unit. And remember that you can use the snapping for rotating as well
