Hi, When I log in I am now receiving a message saying my home location is nor currently available. After I close the message box, I'm dumped at a welcome center. And its suggested I set a new home location.

This started late yesterday. After I close the message box I can do a ctrl-shift-h and am taken right to my home location. If I set home to a different location the same thing happens so I don't think its actually a problem with my home location. I've cleared cache and also cleared out my AV folder with the .xml files in it. Running the standard viewer on Vista Home Premium.

Any suggestions?

Same thing for me last night. Not sure why, or if it's temporary.

I happened to me a lot..and I'd look at a mini map and see that my sim was all red..yep it was down. I sent an email and got a message saying the engineers were working on a problem in my sim and it if happens again, to let them know and they'll bring it online so I can get home. Since then, though it's been fine!

has been happening to me too, ... except it does log me in where I was logging in, nothing amiss

maybe I should check the jira, might be some kind of bug

(I just hate searching through that thing)

The region in Hanja that I have set to home has been crashing a lot these past few days. So I've been seeing the same thing, but probably not for the same reasons. (^_^)y

It would be nice if on login, when the locaton you are trying to appear is for any reason unavailable, it would give you a CHOICE of accepting a random location, or last location, or Home, or *** just not logging in at all... ***

If my last location was my bedroom, and I know I was naked when I logged off or crashed, then I certainly DO NOT want to log in at a random public location! I'd rather not log in at all, thanks!

Hanja (and the 3 other sims adjacent to it) are fully loaded up with avatars! no wonder you can't get in.

This would be why I always tried to remember to dress before logging out. Of course, crashing while naked still leaves you with this issue.

That was what I did this morning. Landed in the middle of a group of newbies with my clothes off. Once I do land I can tp home with no probs. And all other tps work fine after that.

That is my practice, as well. Before I log off, I make sure I am dressed as I want to be when I log in again, and that I am suitablty attired for a "public appearance". I've also made a point of placing the outfit folder for my "low lag Human" form right at the top of my inventory, so if I do appear somewhere unexpected in a awkward condition, I can very rapidly switch to a different, fully clothed form that doesn't need to wait for any attachments at all to position themselves. (That form even has non-prim hair...)

I have had this glitch hit me recently, however. And as soon as I hit the unexpected location, I would try to TP to home, and would go right there. So it is some sort of glitch where the service incorrectly assumes your last location isn't available.

It seems it is not region specific. My home region is Lebettu, and I'm having the same issues. Can't log in to Home location, or to the last location, but once in the random welcome area they put me, I can teleport without problems to my Home.

And no matter where I am when I log out, if I try to log in back to "last Location", it says it is not available. I have tried with 10 different places now, and it is always the same.

*That* sounds like you need to locate the SL preferences folder for your avatar, and delete the files in it. Something has gotten corrupted. Look for a file called "settings_per_account.xml", that is inside a folder named for your avatar. That file contains a key for your last location. I'd try deleting that file, and see if that fixes it for you. It should re-create the file with default info when you log in again.

You mean that file somehow got corrupted on 3 different PCs? (2 using Linux, one using Windows XP)

Edit: It has to be something on the server side and not the client side. I deleted the files in my avatar folder, as a matter of fact I deleted my whole avatar folder, and still have the same issue.

Since this is a recent occurrence (until last night, unless a sim was down - red- this had never happened to me), and affecting many of us, I'm thinking it's a bug.

I was using the latest 'official' viewer, not the RC, last night.

The issue happens in official viewer, nicholas viewer and libsecondlife's testclient too, it's surely a server-side issue :(

Apparently, whatever the issue was, it resolved itself, I just logged in and went directly home, tried it on all 3 PCs and all is working again, but it is still strange that this happened at all, even if it was only for some 10 hours

I just tried logging out and back in and the problem is fixed for me too. I guess I'll get dressed before leaving from now on. Don't want to scare the newbies.
