I was curious if anyone else had this issue.

Occasionally I get booted out of SL. But when I try to log in I get a DNS server error. It can take 45 minutes to an hour to get back in.

Of course this always happens when I'm in the middle of something fun and don't want to leave.

So, I get booted, I try to log in and DNS server error. I restart the computer. DNS server error.

But at the same time I can open IE and MSN messenger and have no problems.

What the .....

Anyway, any help is appreciated.

What exactly does the error message say?

What country are you in? Who's your ISP?

I'm not at home but the error message is something about being unable to resolve the DNS server name.

I'm in the United States

My ISP is Windstream.

The funny part is this never happens to me anywhere but on SL. I can download 300gb of data over 5 days without a single crash, but 3 or 4 hours into a SL session and BAM.

Any suggestions?

I don't have this often but a couple of weeks back a few of us had it all at once. Usually resolves itself. I immediately tried an alt login and it worked but then, that might have been mere coincidence it had cleared. Not a lot we can do I gather.

So no one knows why this happens or how to prevent it?

I clear my cache, no good.
I reboot the computer and no good.
I do a complete shutdown and still no good.

A couple hours later and I'm good.

Seems strange to me.

Anyway, thanks for reading.

Sounds like a networking problem on your end or with your ISP.

Have you checked with their setup guide to make sure that things like your DNS server address are set up correctly?
