From: someone **So when I logged in, my home sim wasn't available. I was redirected to Zindra, and this worried me, so I contacted live support. Chatlog follows. - S** What kind of issue are you having? Inworld Issue opr_9882401204cde46b2be097b71142eefc48b3b283-65e2-45cb-9b54-c76fc34673c7: Thank you for contacting Second Life Live Chat support! An agent will be with you in a moment. Minerva: Hi there, S* Rutabaga. Welcome to Minerva's live help. As I am speaking with a number of residents currenty, I appreciate your patience very much. If this call pertains to an Inworld Abuse Incident, please file an Abuse Report inworld by selectiong Help>Report abuse in your client. S* Rutabaga: Hi. I just logged in, and my usual sim was unavailable, so I was redirected ti a sim on Zindra. This wouldn't ordinarily be an issue, but I'm a child avatar. Is there a way to not get redirected there again? Minerva: I'm afraid not. There's not harm in being in a mature or adult region as a child avatar. It's just that the activities that you choose to conduct yourself in Minerva: *no S* Rutabaga: ok. But what if I get sent there and someone ARs me? What's my recourse? Minerva: The Governance team investigates these matters fully. If there isn'y any evidence of a TOS or community standards violation, you don't have to worry about recourse. S* Rutabaga: the thing is, there's a proximity thing in the TOS. if I get dumped in the wrong place, I might be close to pose-balls or something. S* Rutabaga: Which would be a violation of TOS. And not my fault. Minerva: No, no, please don't worry abou that. Being close to a poseball doesn't mean your quilty. Minerva: *guilty even (Forgive me, it's early and Saturday) S* Rutabaga: it's happened to kids I know. Minerva: I can't discuss specifics of other residents. However, it takes more than just being near a poseball for it to be a TOS violation. S* Rutabaga: may I quote you on that? Minerva: lol Sure, if you like. But like I said, it's the activities that you choose to conduct yourself in that make all the difference. Minerva: *add an s on makes... S* Rutabaga: I understand that. I just wish all SL residents did. ok. quoting you for Sept 19, 2009 6:26 am SL time. Minerva: Okay. Why do you need to quote me? S* Rutabaga: so I can tell other kids, in case it happens to them. Minerva: The TOS and community standards should cover the specifics of Ageplay. Ah, okay. Is there anything else I can help you with? S* Rutabaga: nope. thanks for your help. Minerva: You're welcome. personal note: this should also be valid for the random mass tp invites to clubs and other events * name obscured for the forum rules

From: someone Minerva: Okay. Why do you need to quote me? I wouldn't rest too easy on the word of a Linden concerned about being quoted on policy.

I applaud Brenda's skepticism - like the title on the book says, "Only The Paranoid Survive."
But I read this exchange as evidence LL is aware there is a little crowd of obsessives in SL witch-hunting kid avs and they are not eager to be drawn into resident persecution by other residents.

(Puts rose-colored glasses back in the locked drawer where they usually sit, gathering dust.) I agree, but asking why she needs to be quoted is a bit concerning. When I had my talks with Blue over the forums awhile back, I asked him for permisiion to quote him, copy the conversation, etc. He replied that it is a givien that anything a Linden says as a Linden is public record and can be freely quoted. And that being pretty much a policy statement, quoting it should be encoutraged. I could be overthinking it, I guess.

Seems to me that https://blogs.secondlife.com/community/features/blog/2007/11/14/clarification-of-policy-disallowing-ageplay spells it out pretty clearly: From: someone For instance, the placement of avatars appearing to represent minors in proximity to “sex beds” or other sexualized graphics, objects, or scripts, would violate our Community Standards, as would the placement of sexualized “pose balls” or other content in areas depicting playgrounds or children’s spaces So, if Linden Labs log you in at an Info Hub that happens to contain sex beds etc (if there is such a place), then it's them who've placed your avatar there, not you. As to accepting TPs to events and so on, as I recall, Blondin was asked about this at one of his Wednesday office hours -- can't remember which but if you search them in the slapt wiki archive, it should be there. Basically, if the child avatar tps out on realising he or she is somewhere inappropriate, there's not a problem.

I read the thread title as "Life Support Response: Redirect to Zindra with Child!" initially...
...conjuring up images of a medical helicopter containing a very sick kid in it with an emergency...
Okay, don't mind me...

Makes ZERO sense to redirect ANYONE to Zindra automatically. That "feature" should be disabled. Jira anyone?

Redirected to safe Hub
09-19-2009 08:53
If you did get redirected to Zindra because of a missing sim, you will be redirected to one of the Zindra Safe Hubs and not to a regular Zindra sim.
Could you be redirected to an adult region in a private estate? – I don't know.

All this matches previous discussions on the topic by Blondin Linden, in the SL wiki and Knowledge Base, etc. Good to know Live Chat knows it too. A hub redirect is the main time, I suspect, you might see an SL kid on the Zindran continent. I know I've ended up redirected to Arapaima a couple of times, as have other kids I know.
(Oh, and before it comes up, if I know it's Zindra land, I tend to not go there. Learned that lesson, so let's get that out of the way already.)

I think it might be nice to be able to pick the rating in which you are redirected. In the case of people who often find themselves caught with their pants down, they could request an Adult rated Info Hub. Corporates, Educators, and people who spend a lot of their time in SL in a child avatar, might like to specify PG rated Info Hubs. Probably too much work though.

Would it really have to be too much work? We -- and pretty much every virtual world, graphic or not -- allows you to set a home location with ease. How much work would it really require to automatically direct you home instead of to an infohub (when your home sim is available) and to allow you to select a "backup home" in another region (whether an infohub or not) for when your home isn't available? Wouldn't it just be storing another variable?

In the case of people who often find themselves caught with their pants down, they could request an Adult rated Info Hub. I'd prefer not to go to an infohub at all. I'd rather be sent home, or if that region is down, be able to have a list of preferred locations to start in. The problem with getting sent to an infohub with your pants down (or off...) is there are no Adult rated infohubs. There are two in adult regions, but they both have those signs prohibiting adult activity.

If your preferences include Adult, it seems like there's a chance you'll get redirected to an adult place. If you don't include Adult in preferences, getting redirected to zindra is probably a bug they should fix.
The servers don't have much to go by to judge what you intend to RP.

From: VWR-15568 if you try to log into a region that's down, it would be nice to be able to choose your destination instead of getting a random redirect
Today, when you login and the region you're trying to login to is down you seem to be semi-randomly redirected to another region.
It would be nice to instead get a pop-up that gives you a choice of, say, Home, Random Adult Hub, Random Non-Adult Hub, or type in a different region name. Or something like that. Vote here, if you'd like: https://jira.secondlife.com/browse/VWR-15568
