Parcel is full?

Another noob question.
There's a piece of land I'm allowed to rez objects on. The last few days I've been going there to open boxes. Today after a couple boxes I got a "parcel is full" notice and couldn't open anymore boxes. What is this? Is this my fault for opening too many boxes?

Yes it's your fault. :D Just kiddin. What kind of place is it, a sandbox, public? That notice usually means that the sim is filled up with avatars and they can't squeeze another one in there. Sims only hold about what, 40 or so peeps, then it's 'full' til someone leaves. At any rate, no, it's not your fault. (although, as an aside, hopefully you are nicely and respectfully cleaning up boxes and deleting/taking back any trash when you're done.)

The parcel can only hold a certain number of objects. Someone has filled it up.

If you aren't picking up the boxes after you open them, and they aren't being returned to you, then it's probably partially your fault. If you are, someone else filled up the parcel.

You can see how many objects the parcel you're in supports and how many are used clicking "About Land" under the "World" menu, and then clicking the "Objects" tab.

So that message is about objects, not avatars? I"ve only gotten that message when trying to attend an event on a busy sim, and the sim was already full of avatars. I didn't realize it could be about objects, too.

I got the message a second after I broke my second copy of my sex-bed.

It rezzed toys, and well, they used prims, and well... the toy not only failed to rez, but was deleted from the contents folder, so I had to contact the maker and explain how I'd managed to do that. :p

Now I always make sure there is a good healthy buffer of unused prims on my land. No more building up to the max.

Oh let me be clear: I ALWAYS delete my boxes once I take out the inventory. I would never let trash pile up. Plus this place has a one minute limit anyway. I thought I was the only one there, so I'm puzzled by your explanations.

Yup: a different message, actually.

Is this your land? Perhaps there are other objects there, for example in a skybox.

There are other locations out there for rezzing in mind, particularly sandboxes. Some of the quieter ones can be quite useful f'r your purposes.

On the center top bar of your screen where it lists your current location, click the name of the location, and 'About Land' opens up. Look at the objects tabs.

That will tell you what's currently in use.
