Zeenith, not really sure what sort of job you are looking for, but we are looking for sales associates.

Please send me a notecard in-world saying a little but about yourself, including your skills (especially language skills), experience in SL, previous work, etc and I will put you in touch with our recruitment people.

I am glad you had some response for help.

As ever, the most effective way to earn L$ is to have a RL job and buy some through Lindex.

UK minimum wage works out around L$3000/hour. You'd need to be offering good skills to get a job in SL for that. I've no idea what the US equivalent is.

But a job can be good for other reasons... it can be a good way to meet people, spend time profitably, learn about SL or just have fun.

I almost feel as though too many people ignore the idea that building and scripting are perfectly good ways to make monies inworld. Even without a store, land, or any REAL graphical skill, I'm able to make anywhere between L$200 to L$1000 per week on top of my participation in building show&tell events and speed/blitz build contests.

Sure, there's a learning curve to get passed, but after learning enough of the details, it's like being paid to play. (^_^)y

Oh I won't pretend that we pay real-world salaries, that's for sure.

But in the way some people see SL as a simulation of running a business, some others see it as a simulation of working.

Others see SL as a true "game" and the game is to make enough money in-world to "support your lifestyle" and that's fine too.

All too often though we talk with people who want a job, but don't really want to work.... but expect to get paid, of course....

EPIC LULZ! We find people like that in RL too. I likes my RL moneymaker. It's like being paid to play without all the lag. Now, if I can only get rid of that RL land tier, I could really make a SL mess. (^_^)y

Oddly, most people see RL the same way...

The thing about offering "SL salaries" is that one does tend to then receive "SL job performance" i.e. people taking five times as long to do half what they said they would, not showing up, waving their Generative Organs in your customers' faces and so on.

That's usually the employers fault, I don't consider myself a great builder, but I can rez a better cube than 80% of those that say they are builders, of course the other 20% are truly addicted to fine building. I don't yet offer my services because employers expect a well done build done five times faster than its possible to do LOL :)

I have to agree - for the longest time I did not even try to earn money. Then I thought that it might be nice to offset my then newly acquired premium status and land purchases a little. So I tried running a club - nope not much money there. Then I looked at the escort trade and became a madame of a bordello (I changed the club) - it is hard to get people to pay for what is abundantly free and even then you can't really charge enough for more than a cup of coffee at a time.
However scripting and building has already proven its value in the short time I have been doing it :) Lots of people want scripts and things building. Not the huge stuff necessarily but modest stuff and if your scripting is good word of mouth spreads quickly :)
