It finally happened. I cannot log in because there's 75K residents online.
We've had the bot discussion ad nauseum already. I think everyone should be allowed a couple of alt accounts, and I don't have anything against bots in general, as many perform useful services.
But the endless throngs of traffic bots are ridiculous, and when there's so many it bottlenecks the system, to where actual humans cannot log on to handle their business, create content or enjoy the grid in general, something is seriously wrong.
The grid was not made for the bots, it was made for US.
/end rant, I'm just blowing off steam.

Nope, you are looking at it wrong Kip, bots are good for LL. They keep us residents out and push their concurence numbers real high. After all we still have to pay our tier, so they still collect our money.
Of course bots are bad for us, but then I have seen little evidence that LL cares much about what is good for the residents as a whole.

No Aes, you shall *not* go to the ball. Or at least not back to it - locked out and I didn't even leave a glass slipper behind.

You gotta love this. Now I don't get the "Logins Disabled" message anymore. I get the "The system is logging you out" message.. Of course it has been logging me out for over 20 minutes now.

A long queue to leave as well as to get in? Well that's a new one.

From: Cory 1) Second Life will return to steady growth and have a shockingly good 2009
I'll bet Cory is changing his mind now! Personally, I don't see it getting any better in the near future.

everything is fine and dandy until it affects one personally
then it becomes an issue
if each and every person (real live person) were to get that msg and not be allowed in, then each (or almost each) person would then complain (either publicly or just in their own mind) about the bots...
just saying is all

It's bots that cause TPs to fail sometimes, and various crashes. Oh, and attachments up your ass - that's caused by bots too, not to mention slow rezzing, ruthing, rubber banding, and of course the increase in the cost of Open Space sims. The damned things are responsible for so much that's wrong with SL. You can be sure that, if something goes wrong with SL, the damned bots are responsible for it.

just saying is all You do realize that, "if each and every person (real live person) were to get that msg and not be allowed in," the chances would be very good the login issue has nothing to do with traffic bots, right? *sigh*

The weird thing for me is, it's only affecting *one* of my alts. I can log in as myself or one of the others, but this one girl keeps getting this message: From: someone Login failed. The system is logging you out right now. Your account will not be available until ----- The time and date is usually just a couple minutes away, but when that time comes, it just happens again, with a new time. Before it happened, I was unable to buy freebies - it would either time out ("Request is stale" or it would say I didn't have enough money.

The message I was getting was quite a bit different, saying something about logins being overwhelmed and so forth. Your issue seems like maybe there's something up with that particular ava. Maybe you have some corrupt files in the cache for that one?

Key I had that happen like three times last night- it was about 6:15 SL Time - When we all started adding the time stamp to the Cartel chat- it kept telling me I did not have enough Lindens -uhm, for a $1 Linden pari of earrings btw. It did eventually work though.

I tried clearing the cache... didn't help... so I deleted the whole "Second Life" directory under Documents And Settings\My Crap\Etc. but that didn't change anything. I have... uh, more than two alts, and they are all fine except for this one. Maybe I have to call the Lindens.

Whew! This problem is actualy quite simple and contained in the message itself: Login failed. The system is logging you out right now. Thats exactly what is wrong, last time you logged off or crashed, the sim started to log you off but never fineshed, most commonly becuase your attachments failed to save (due to the grid instability at the time). So you couldn't log in because you were still logging out

From: Key MacMoragh Thanks for the explanation. So I guess waiting was the fix? That, or you can get someone to restart the sim you were in. People claim sending L or IMs to the account will fix it. Though personaly that stopped working for me months ago. I think it is only still believed due to word of mouth, not practice.

You might also try rebooting on your end. Modems and routers sometimes don't let go of the connection after you log/crash. Unfortunately, the message doesn't differentiate between the two types of issues.
But if paying your avatar L$1 worked, then that means that somewhere on the grid, probably in the last place you were at was a ghost of your avatar, freaking out other users.

I had this message.
Login failed and we are so sorry Ceka!! The system is logging you in right now. Your account will be available A.S.A.P. We just have to make room for you your wait time should only be 30 seconds. If you experience any lag just let one of us know and we will make more room. your account has been given a $L 10,000 linden increase for your inconvenience.
30 Seconds? I was like C'mon!! that deserves at least 20k bonus!!

*sigh* I did not mean all at the same time LOL if that were the case then I think bots would be getting it too which makes me wonder, what happens if a bot gets that login error... do they complain about the humans?
