I wanna change the colour of my selector beam (the particles that come out of my hand when I have left mouse button clicked something) from white to red. I see some avis have done so, so it's gotta be possible! I've scanned and scanned my debug menu... no luck. *sigh* Anyone know?

Hi Aslyn.. welcome to the forums. Yes, you can do this. Go to Edit then Preferences Then under the general tab you will see "Color for my effects" click the box and choose your color.

On a somewhat related note, does anyone know if the selector beam can be disabled altogether?
It is actually quite annoying when working with tiny prims - the selector beam particles keep coming in and covering the item I work on, giving a flickering effect, and inducing a headache...not unlike sitting under a florescent lamp that's on it's way out...
I've looked, but am woefully inept at finding how to turn some features on and/or off.

Joseph, Yes it can be disabled. My wife used to know how when she worked with tiny prims on her jewelry making.
She asked me the other day if I remember how and I looked all over the place in the viewer and google and couldn't find the answer.
So, if someone knows the way I would be grateful as well to know.
But it can be done.

Go into edit mode to get the tools menu at the top of the screen. You have the option there to uncheck "Show Selection Beam." I think that should do it.

No wonder I couldn't find it.. I keep forgetting the Tools menu poofs until you are editing something or building. Why oh why did they do this to us? Thanks again.. and I thank you in advance from her as well. That was really hurting her eyes.

From: Macphisto Angelus Why oh why did they do this to us? It's dynamic! Dynamic = good. People who don't like dynamic are bad people.

Hmmm I've noticed it doesn't change the particles that surround me when I ... lets say... transfer an LM to someone or whatever. Those are still white. Must I be constantly tortured with white particles? *whines*

I used to be able to look in the tool menu to answer questions about the tool menu, without having to build something.

Must I be constantly tortured with white particles? *whines* With that trick Nimue mentioned it will turn off not only the selection beam, but also the swirling ones when you transfer. So you can be totally free of it all if you want.

I just wanted to post in here that I find it vastly amusing someone actually went straight to the debug menu without even looking in the standard issue prefs. That just says mouthfuls to me about the way they hide everything useful.
