Everythings gone from inventory

I'm panicing and my heart is going ten to the dozen. SL is saying no matching items found in inventory and there is nothing there. My av has completely changed appearance...OMG what do I do? Please help. I can feel the tears coming.

At bit more explanation...I cleared my cachet and re-logged, a message popped up saying that items were loading. Next thing a have all empty folders and my normal av appearance has gone. This wil be the end if I've lost everything...OMG if someone could just take me through the steps please I'd be so grateful. I'm too frightened to close down and re-log in case I make things worse.

oK..everything is in there now but it is saying that they haven't loaded. I tried to change my shape back and popup windew said "Can't change appearance until shape and clothing are loaded". How do I make it load????

I'd wait a little bit longer to see if your data arrives. If not, a relog might help.

Clear your SL cache. Then go to DISK CLEANUP in the ACCESSORIES folder under the windows start menu. Free up a lot of temporary files and recycle bin. Clean up programs you are not using on your computer in this area too. Then Defrag your harddrive.

After you do all this, it is likely not to solve your problem. It will give you some things to do to maintain your computer while SL gets back to normal. In most cases, time fixes your issues.

There is a rolling restart currently in progress over half the main grid. I would wait for that to finish before panicking.

Wait a couple of hours then teleport to a quiet sim like Cyclops. Then clear your cache and relog into that same quiet sim. Open your inventory and just type a single letter into the search bar. Wait for it to finish loading before doing anything. Don't even send or reply to IMs while it is loading.

Disaster averted...thanks so much for your replies. I honesty felt heart palpatations. OMG...just the thought of losing everything and my av, argh....it was horrible.

Funniest thing happened when I just logged in. When I logged out I was naked, logging back in I was re-directed to another sim. OMG...in the buff. I ended up in a huge bush (thank god) with about 5 other ppl in various forms of undress. Some were stuck in the bush flailing about and one is starkers. Now that's something to remember...even in the privacy of your own home...don't log out naked. It was really funny Thank god my clothes rezzed on this occasion.

At least you now have a funny story to tell!
Next time, if inventory items won't load, try the trick with the empty sim-anywhere that hasn't got a lot of stuff to load where your inventory can take its time loading.... it really does work.

And mind the shrubbery!
