Is Zindra LL's "Blue Mars" ?

I was just having a look around. The build are ok for the most part, some aren't finished, like the innards of the dams and such, but is it all supposed to look like Starfleet Headquarters? Will people be able to build in whatever style they want, or will this be a strictly "themed" development , like Bay City? If so, then LL has just given the Adult Community another kick in the groin if people won't be able to tailor the land they are being forced to move to to their desire.

The area called Mosh seems to be an infohub of sorts, and right now it is just like any other infohub, including too much gesture spam. In the first 5 minutes I was there I was propositioned twice and given an unsolicited invite to a Sex Group.

Lag was awful, but that is normal for my old little Dell.

All in all, the Public Builds look nice, but I hope there will be a diversity of architecture. If not, Zindra , the "Hotbed" of SL is going to be a cold and sterile place.

I'm sure people will be able to build whatever they want there,. In a couple months, it'll look just as good as Nautilus.

I was there last night. The whole thing just looks sterile and bland to me.

Am I right in thinking that Terra-forming is not an option anywhere?
I mean it is sure going to mess with the LL builds if it is.
If that is the case then there will be no parcel joining/splitting either.

People are supposed to want to swap existing mainland for this?

I am getting a much clearer picture now of what will happen.
People will spurn Zindra and keep their existing parcels, violate the rules and take their chances. After all we all know that LL cannot police it all.
Before that happens however mainland prices will stay low enabling committed mainlanders like myself who mainly want to use the land for residential purposes, to get some incredible land at unbelievable prices. This will also drive the existing mainland prices up again.
Meanwhile Zindra will steadily turn into a ghetto or at best owned by those for whom bland tastes just fine.

Of course the above is mostly tongue in cheek, mostly...

It has no sewers or seedy build, it's nearly anti Goth, like they are trying to discourage the BDSM lifestyle people, I would have liked to see a modern vanilla township, a Gothic township andmaybe a futuristic neon themed city. Dams ar nice, though not dark & dank enough inside. It's all too vanilla, hopefully the Linden build will eventually just look like out of place stuff to be deleted, so glad they didn't build to much of it. I would also like to see someone build a spacecity at 4000m or so. A mass underground complex could have been good too.
Having roads is good for a framework to give everything a front and back, and alowing people to move predicably from one end of the continent to the other but there also needto be plenty of complete roadless sims for those tha want them, they can always ad their own roads anytime anyway, as long as there is a main road up the centre of the continent and around most of the edges for people to travel.
The lag also sems to be bad there, even on the blank sims.
LL have also failed again to put any vehicle rezzing platforms in.

Lets change it's name to Zanilla!

There was one planned city but most of it was just empty land. I think there will be a variety of possibilities.

To put it more succinctly, all that should be there, if that is what the land owners will want to build. The LL build is fine for what it is, but I definitely wouldn't want the entire continent to look like that. One of my favorite things about RL cities, like New York is you can see a 19th century brownstone sandwiched between 2 glass towers, or see a gothic cathedral, or Grand Central Station side by side modern 21st Century Architecture.

I like an infrastructure being set up - *maybe* it will curb or even stop people from rezzing all kinds of ugly, badly built crap in a hodge podge the way it sits on mainland currently.

Many people will place their own build on their own land without any regard to what is next to their parcel. It won't be a planned city simply because LL left the land blank. Probably the opposite.

I find it probably more amusing than I should that land being advertised as "Green Living for the Future" is also the same land slated to contain, according to LL, the most extreme sex and violence the grid has to offer.

Perhaps it's the result of having seen too many 'Friday the 13th' / 'summer camp slasher' style movies, but when I think sex and violence I don't think of an enviro-friendly-respect-the-earth environment, I think of a smoke-belching toxic-waste dumping delapidated industrial site. And I can't help but smile at the idea of such a build, complete with all the kind of depraved poseballs that Zindra is supposed to contain, being plopped down right next to one of the main Zindra info-hubs.

How is this supposed to be a predictable experience again?

I think I understand LL's move now...

If they make Zindra as bland as possible and take away most of the land controls, whilst forcing a block like infrastructure on people, perhaps those people will decide to buy private islands instead of swapping the land.

Nautilus and Bay City will probably be cheaper when all the Land Sharks dump their land their to pay for their L$500k 512 plots on Zhinda
