I just got back in, but could only see the sim I started on. All the surrounding sims were gone.

It came back again about ten minutes later so maybe they've been resetting sims due to performance issues. |

Yeah, that definitely would be a sim restart - maybe they are doing some rolling restarts and forgot to tell us.
