I have a problem and, while I've poked around a little, I haven't found anything on it. So here goes:

I built a platform made up of eight prims on my land. A couple of hours later, I deleted them. Now there are eight ghost prims on my land. Something's there -- these prims count against my allowance and they exist in space (I can walk on the platform as if it were there). However, I cannot "Show" these prims, return them, or interact with them in any way. I am now haunted by the angry spirits of my deleted prims.

A few weeks ago, at a sandbox, I observed something similar. The sandbox staffer told me that the ghost prims there would go away after the next restart, which was scheduled for a few days after we chatted. Is this the only way to get rid of ghost prims? If so, is there some sort of schedule for restarts? Can I exorcise these spirits, or am I doomed to live with them for all eternity? (Or at least until the next restart.)

On a related note, is there anything I can do to make sure that I don't create ghost prims again in the future?

I've had ghost prims in the past and never found a solution. So I forgot about them and they were presumably dealy with on the next restart.

I think there will be a restart early this week. The last one (a couple of days ago) was completed but not finished - so says the blog. I assume that "not finished" means there is more to come.

As far as I know a region restart is the only way to get of the pesky buggers.

deja vu!

a restart will fix it. If you are on the mainland, just open a live chat in support and ask them to restart it. When it happened to me, they were happy to do it, and 10 mins later, the ghost house was gone.

You can request LL to reset the sim to get rid of the ghost prims and they will do it in a few hours.

All you needed to do was ask and I've have been on my way.

No need to bring the authorities in.

Thanks for your timely responses Phil, Porky, Ralektra, and Susie.

And I'm surprised that the term ghost prim isn't in the general SL lexicon. (SLexicon?) We should work to change that.

There's a rolling restart either underway or finished. Your ghosts should have left the building.

I never knew the name prim was available

The Prim name never was available, it is a corporate bought name and given I believe 'in recognition' to some content creators in SL.
