I'm new and I need some help on making linden dollars. I have been doing these stupid surveys and I stopped because they don't work and they are pointless. I want to have fun, not sit down and fill out surveys all day.

I need to know how to really make them, like with a job.
I seen places where you can camp and make lindens and thats good for when I need to get school work done, I can camp but when im actually at my computer I want to do something creative or help people out.

Someone help me please?

Please don't tell me to get a premium account or buy the lindens with USD, im not the biggest fan of putting my credit card over the internet, so until I play and see if I really like this, ill remain free.

For 2.50 USD you'll get close to 600 L$ and you don't need to be premium for that. You might not be a fan of using your credit card, but that's the easiest way in your case to keep it fun. "Earning" your Lindens might spoil it.

Welcome to the Forums.

A lot of people start out wanting to "test the waters" before putting in RL money, so that's cool. (Oh, and a Premium account only gets you a stipend and the right to buy Mainland, so it's not a very cost-effective way to make L$s, on its own.)

Unfortunately, it's just kinda hard to have fun and a job at the same time, until you find a job that's fun. And, as in RL, "entry level" in SL tends to be neither lucrative nor exciting.

There are sort of two paths, I think: the "MBA" approach of taking a job (oh, say, hosting at a club--you might find such a job from the Employment Opportunities forum here, or by in-world search for "help wanted" or "temporary employment";). Then you chat up everybody until someone decides you should manage some part of their massive in-world enterprise. Although this never happens, in the meantime you get an idea for your own business that you just have to try, and throw enough RL money into the game to launch it.

The other path is the "Engineer" approach of content creation: it costs almost nothing (perhaps L$10/upload, depending on what you're creating), so if you find it fun while learning, it's a way to end up with products or marketable skills.

1. Create things for sale.
2. Host/DJ/Dance/Escort at clubs.
3. Write/Do staff work for SL publications.
4. Manage someone else's real estate.
5. Come up with a niche service.

Most of these tasks, however, are the equivalent of slave labor. Sadly, SL doesn't make the kind of money to pay people reasonably for help. But when you remember that this is a game and not a job, then it's easier to tolerate, but buying L is bar none the most efficient way to earn a SLiving.

Why do you need $L in the first place? If you don't own land, for almost everything else there is freebie stuff.

Have fun instead.

"Hi, I want to get paid for having fun".
Rephrased like that, the problem should be fairly obvious.

Sarcastic remarks aside, if you're here for having fun, then... well, have fun. Start doing what you please. Sink a few dollars into it if you feel the need for L$, or go exploring for freebies. -That can be fun in itself, just to see what is out there.
If you pick up some skills in whatever amuses you, you can start selling that, and earn some pocket money that way. But do know that earning any noticeable amount of money above that is hard work, and decide for yourself if that is what you want.

Head over to Sarah Nerd's Freebie Paradise. There you will find anything you could possibley want, and some things you probably won't, enough to get you off to a start, all free. Then you can see if you like the game or not.

You don't need money if you don't plan to build your own home, create, own or rent land.
You can just hang out, explore and take classes. Most of classes are donation only but it is nice to give something.
Just buy the L you think you need if you really want money most of jobs involving clubs often require you have expensive skins, attract friends to come to clubs and tip you and you share certain amount of profits and it seems in my book not my thing.
I make things, I do it for fun, sometimes I get people who write me and offer work for me.
I rather do that then have to deal with getting customers or spending a lot of time away from creating dealing with customers.
No I am not making much money and I live off my stipend.
But every now and then I do get paid for something I create but I also work really, really hard every day in creating but even that most of time it is fun unless something is getting really difficult and challenging.

Is Paypal still an option? Do you have a paypal account?

If you can't use it here directly, you can use paypal with SLExchange and buy L$ that way instead.

Ironically, it's much more freeing to simply pay for a few, than spend hours upon hours trying to "earn" them in world. ;) IE:

.... and I don't see a problem with that. If you want you can have a job at my club. If you're into voice. It's a voice club. Really new, but we have all sorts of fun things planned. IM Me in world.

Find a club or group of people you like to hang out with. Then if your a regular there is generally hostess type jobs available. For it to be fun you just need to find people you really enjoy being with.

Go to the supermarket and buy a 20US pre-paid Visa or Mastercard. Use that to buy ~5000L$. Throw the now empty card away. Have fun.

--*There usable over the internet?
How about AMEX prepaid? I havent seen a vista or mastercard around my area, but im sure there around...*--

I am very tempted to start a premium even though I have been here for about 2 days... its very fun and im meeting new people.

I discovered how good I am at the building feature of the game because of the similar design programs I used in the past so I might work on that and see where that takes me, but please respond to the prepaid
