Ok, not really. Obviously I TP'd out or I wouldn't be writing this I have lockable doors. For months these things have NEVER worked properly. I've never been able to get the menu to come up. Suddenly today, I click on the door to open it (they always have been able to slide open and closed) and the menu actually comes up! On both doors! So, I start experimenting with the options. I click "lock". Thinking there would be an "unlock" option on the menu. Guess what? There isn't. So, now I'm standing there, with both sliding doors on both sides of the room, locked tight. I look at the notecard and there is no instructions how to unlock the door! All it says is once the door is locked, not even the owner can unlock it. WTF? So, I TP downstairs. Now, I can open the doors by going into "edit". But of course I want to be able to learn how to work the darn things once and for all. The whole point of purchasing this house always was having lockable bedrooms doors. I wrote the guy who wrote the script for the doors (he's separate from the manufacturer of the home) but, his profile says it could take him "weeks" before he responds. So, does anyone out there have any expertise in these sorts of issues? In the meantime, I'm glad I thought to landmark my bedroom, just in case...

I am trying to comprehend why I would have a door that I couldn't even open... EDIT: unless the door remains locked permanently and the owner can still open the door...
If you just had a prim door with no scripts or sounds in it whatsoever wouldn't that be the same thing? lol
Maybe you should take the locking scripts out of the door and save them in your inventory. They should be in the Contents tab of the door when you are in edit mode. Try to drag the script from the door into the Scripts section of your inventory.

Try to drag the script from the door into the Scripts section of your inventory. Well the doors came with the house EDIT: And, the doors are capable of a lot of things other than just locking. They have a lot of nice options. So, will moving the script theoretically "unlock" the door? I guess it's worth a shot, since they weren't working before this and I do have back up doors in my inventory if I want to start from scratch again. And yes, of course I could just delete the doors. I'm fully aware of this. I'm just trying to comprehend how this all works.

taking out the scripts will turn the doors basically into a wall with a door texture
you could take the doors to inventory, get the free script in the scripting library and make your own (or take out those scripts and put in your own script)
seems silly to have a door that locks and remains locked you said they do more than just lock
what more can or does a door do? (besides open, close and lock and unlock)

Should be possible to just reset the scripts (select the scripted prim in object editor, Tools / Reset all scripts in selection.
The mystery is what function "lock" was intended to perform. Unless there's some access list in a notecard or something, so the door could be owned by a landlord, say, but locked by a tenant. (Or in service of the ever-popular Rapunzel fetish, perhaps.)

Who puts on a locking door that even the owner cannot unlock?? PM the name of this builder. I'm curious who's crazy enough to do that. And the creator of the script for the doors.

Elora, I assume the script for the doors is nomod ... however, if you can edit it, copy and paste that here.
I think we're all curious about these door features. If you feel comfortable doing it, how about cutting/pasting the description of the door features here? That way we can at least see if one of us could tweak an existing door script to do what you want. .

From the sounds of it, I would try putting the door in edit mode, then click on TOOLS on the top bar of the browser and select RESET SCRIPTS IN SELECTED ITEM. My reasoning for that is it will reset the doors to the state they were in when she bought them which were more than likely unlocked. The locked state isn't written to a notecard so it shouldn't be reset to a locked state.

For months it's never worked and has been consigned to the hidden depths of my inventory. So I tried the above trick on it and it works perfectly now. Shay: whoever you are THANK YOU and welcome to the forums

If it's the doors I suspect, a simple click just opens the doors (when unlocked), and holding down the mouse button will bring up the menu. From that menu you can then unlock.

If they are NDE door scripts which they sound as if they could be as they are packed with options, just click on the door and do as Hiro said and hold down your mouse..a blue pop up menu should appear.

Actually I'd forgotten about those doors ... I had a build with them and they didn't sit well with laggy places. So much so that on occasion I'd simply make my house phantom, walk through the wall then reset it again.

From: Cherry Czervik Hrrumph. This isn't as kinky a thread as I was hoping for ... Lol. I could start again for you Cherry. The Rapunzel scenario Qie suggusted perhaps? I was up there with rather long, blonde, wavy hair? Unfortunately, I'm not very good at playing the fair damsel in distress for very long. Eventually I'd get pissy and wind up topping the Witch. Although if it were a handsome Prince coming to rescue me, I could play meek and mild But, getting back to business. Tiana is right, these are NDE doors, and yes, holding down the mouse key will bring up the menu. However, there is no "unlock" feature on the menu, THAT is the problem. Stupid, right? Nika, I'd post the instructions put truthfully, it would bore everyone to tears. It is by far, the lengthiest notecard I've ever come across. If anyone is up to the task feel free to IM me inworld and you're more than welcome to come by my house and have a crack at it. I can live with it as is for the moment, since I can just move the doors manually. I will try resetting the script like Shay suggested and see if that helps. Sidenote to Cristalle: I will PM you the name of the builder as soon as I get inworld and look it up It is not one of the major builders, that much I can tell you. Thanks everyone, for all your help, thus far

silly scripters should know that people want to see the word 'unlock'... oh wait I'm one of those silly scripters =X of course silly builders should test options before selling on others work too it may be possible that there is a chat command to unlock as well, but I'd expect an instruction for that in the notecard if it were possible.

From: Yosef Okelly I like to think I am handsome but I'm not a prince. So instead of a rescue, how about I just stay trapped with you /me will have to think whether or not I want to TP you into said bedroom or not...agrees you are quite handsome... /me taps toes, looks up at the ceiling fan whirling away, runs fingers through my golden hair, lots of hemming, hawing and weighing of possibilities...time ticks away...thinking, thinking.... /me decides I really need a Prince; this heart too tender to be toyed with; and Elora is not one of those "hypocritical emotional abusers" you speak of
