I don't know what causes this, but sometimes when I select something, the selection particles go into my face. They go into the direction of my real life self... I don't get it. The only way I have found to stop this from happening is to reinstall the client (sometimes completely fresh) The most frustrating thing about this is that I can't rez anything until I fix it. Let me try to show you what I am talking about... Here in this shot you can see me trying to select the plywood box in front of my avatar; however, instead of the red particles (my color choice) going to the box, they are going towards me in real life, lol. wtf That red particle blob on my avatar is actually a stream of particles headed right into my RL eyes....SL is dangerous...what causes this? It's happened a few times before.

I don't know what causes that but that's about the cutest avatar I've ever seen. I can suggest filing a bug report although I doubt theyre even read.

I assume you sometimes get other people's selection beams in your face, too?

It looks like from the snapshot youre running windlight?..if so..maybe its a windlight viewer bug?
At first my inclination would be to "ignore" it but if it's preventing you from selecting or editing objects that's a serious bug.

Well, no, other people's selection beams don't go in my face, only mine for some reason on occasion. I installed many viewers, onrez, windlight, regular, and it started on the regular one, then I switched to onrez and it started doing it on that one too, so I uninstalled them all, including what is in the application data folder and re-installed the latest RC viewer. The problem is gone for now, but I was wondering if anyone knows an easier way than reinstalling?

I have discovered how to reproduce this bug; if anyone uses the regular viewer where this happens to you, please vote for it here in JIRA. http://jira.secondlife.com/browse/VWR-888
