After downloading the Beta grid, just to see what it was like, I went there, looked around and left. Shortly after I noticed a whole file of Play Equipment was missing from my Inventory when I was in the Main grid (good, paid-for stuff!). I searched every file to see if it was misplaced, cleared Cache, re-logged in...nowhere to be found. Decided to go back to the Beta grid just to check and WaLa..my missing file and all the equipment/toys was in my Inventory where it was supposed to be. Went back to the Main grid and it's missing again. I talked to a few SL "helpers," but they had no usable suggestions. Anyone had this happen to them and is there any way to get my inventory (sniff) back???

The beta grid inventory was probably taken as a snapshot from a day prior to you acquiring the items on the main grid..so, it wouldn't show up on the beta grid.

Sorry if I wasn't clear in what I was saying...I'd had the items in my inventory for quite a number of weeks and then I visited the Beta grid. These items I'd had in this file for a long time didn't reappear when I went back to the normal (if there is such a thing) SL grid. Anyone else have any ideas????

If you know any of the particular item names, try running a search in inventory - sometimes folders migrate to places they don't belong. If that doesn't work...well, I hate to say this, but you've probably lost it. The only reason you still see it on the Beta grid is because the information there lags behind the info on the main grid. It's not 'stuck' there and will likely disappear the next time Beta gets updated.

I am bumping you to an 8.5 on the Official Trout Measuring Instrument of Sluttiness. You are an enigma - on the one hand a sweet, gentle, intelligent woman who we would like to wrap up in our arms and protect, and on the other, a temptress to whom we would like to do all sorts of unmentionable things.

Congratulations and shame on you! You are a bit of a slut.

I have checked ALL my inventory (over 4,000 items) and the stuff is gone. Lesson to anyone thinking of going on the Beta grid...don't wander in with anything you're not prepared to "loose." (Grumbles as she thinks of all the things that need replacing).

I'm pretty sure the beta grid just doesn't work that way (at least until the upcoming "beta on the main grid" change).

They take a snapshot of the current grid and asset database, and from that point on, they are entirely unconnected. For example, during the "change your password" fiasco, people found they still had to use their old passwords on the beta grid.

So in other words, in the current configuration, NOTHING you do on the beta grid affects you on the main grid. It just couldn't do anything to your inventory. (Regular beta gridders, can you confirm or deny this?)

I would suggest that your loss of the inventory item happened at the same time you tried out the beta grid, but that the two events were not actually connected. Awfully coincidental? Not really. Read back in the forums and see how many people complain about things disappearing from their inventory for absolutely no reason. It just happens some times. And stuff comes back sometimes. Such is the way of asset server weirdness.

Thanks for the encouraging words of "hope." Perhaps some day, some how, some way my missing items will magically "appear" again...(sigh). I've read of others loosing stuff, but as they say.."Until it happens to you....". I'll keep my fingers crossed and see what happens.....
