Uncontrollable Mouse

Since I downloaded the 1.20.9 client along with the latest Windlight updates I seem to have developed a frustrating and downright annoying problem. Let's say I'm going to build something. So I rez a prim, and try to zoom in on it using 'alt and 'left mouse button'. The result is I zoom wildly about as if the mouse had suddenly become super sensitive. Or the zoom appears stuck unable to move, or even the whole scene flickers trapped between one view and another untill I hit 'esc'.

Yet If I use 'alt' and 'left mouse button' and try to zoom in on the ground, or water, or a tree or myself, no problem at all, everything perfectly normal, controllable and smooth. It just seems to be a problem with rezzed objects, prims, builds or items rezzed from the inventory. This whole thing makes building pretty much impossible.

Anyone else getting this problem or am I lucky enough to have it exclusively to myself, and if anyone has how'd you manage to fix it (assuming of course you're not still pulling your hair out like me)?

Thank you in advance, Astrid

1.20.9 is a Release Candidate for testing purposes. You may well be experiencing a bug. LL releases the RC's for every day residents to try out and find bugs. I would submit a bug report instead of looking for a work around or hack to stop the problem. It needs to be reported so it can be fixed before it is released as a regular viewer for everyone to use.

Ok but one thing I forgot to mention was that I retained my earlier client edition which I've now gone back to, and you've guessed it the exact same problem exists there too. :o

Nope, a good old mouse on the end of a wire. I just tried zooming in on myself, t-shirt ok, jeans ok then prim sandals and the thing went mental. It's definitly the prims that are causing it, or it's prim related.

does it zoom correctly using the camera controls instead of the alt left click?

To be honest I never use these, but I tried them and after a bit of faffing about I think they're probably ok, but I'd hate to have to rely on them.

It seems to be something related to your setup........but, on two clients I don't know. Guess the best bet is to submit a bug report or support ticket.

It's not happening to me though.

Thanks for your help, I've actually just found that one of my Alt's is free of the problem. I'll examine her preference setup and see if I can spot any differences. I might have checked something while I was fiddling with my controls at some time. :)

I now have the alt click zoom problem with the camera much like Astrid describes above.

It's pretty debilitating.

So far as I can tell, alts share the same settings file. There are separate folders for different accounts but the settings xml files are all stored in one folder, user_settings (in win xp).

How have people solved this crazy zooming problem?
