SLExchange price versus inworld price for product

Can anyone explain to me why someone would list a product on SLExchange for L$900 but also mention in the listing that it is available with "Vital Instructions" inworld for L$2,750. What are "Vital Instructions" that they could justify the price more than tripling and why wouldn't they also be available for the same L$2,750 through SLExchange?

there are many reasons someone might do this. They might sell a different version of the item inworld, It may come with different permissions.. or who knows, maybe he's forgotten that he HAS an SLX listing and hasn't updated his price there.

Heck, it's also possible that he's forced to profit share at the inworld location, or may be using the inflated price in an effort to make people STOP buying the item inworld. It could be that the seller on SLX has lower overhead, or perhaps the person selling it inworld is not the same as the person selling it on SLX?

Your best bet.. ask the seller.

i'v done this kind of thing myself but the other way around which seems to make more sence to me, telling someone on slex that the item is available inworld at a discount is more likely to make them come to your store and possibly buy more items.

why some one would triple there price inworld is beyond me tho

Personally, I set all my items the same in-world and on SLX. I just eat the 5 percent commision (which is extremely fair!), and let my customers buy in either location at the same price.

Inworld is usually cheaper. You are probably paying for a different version.

I sell for the same price as well
why bother to reduce it, just to get them to come to the store when I try to put everything on slex as well

triple the price is high to say the least
and very strange they would tell you it is higher in world LOL

Speaking of the exchange, since the new upgrade I can't TP from the exchange to the shops. It always tries to open a new SL. I even tried while logged out of SL to see if it'd give me the TP when it loaded SL. It didn't.

While trying to shop for land, I discovered the exact same issue. Can't TP to the land parcel, opens SL for a second time which always crashes since I'm already logged in.

Yeah, the prices are often cheaper in-world than on the exchange. Some vendors are kind enough to tell you this in their exchange ad.

That is a silly one =) It's against SLX's TOS to charge *higher* on SLX than in world or on Onrez etc., also to list items that only contain notecards or landmarks. SLX recently did a sweep for the information-only items, so maybe this merchant got caught up, lost a notecard listing, and pasted that instead of the notecard text into SLX out of exasperation? (I don't know about this merchant, just guessing there.)

For that particular item, it seems that the Vital Instructions™ are handed out for free by the in-world vendor, so I guess it drags avatars into the shop and still gets SLX its commission on the better deal after the Vital Instructions™ are obtained, so everyone is happy, or something like that. Or the merchant could simply be a silly person who enjoys the confusion =)

any major changes in price on an SLX listing will also dump your sales ranking and reviews and such.. keeps people from putting in a product at 1l, getting a high ranking and then switching it all around and making it an expensive item so it LOOKS like it's highly ranked.

It may be that the seller is hoping to do just that, listing on SLX at a much discounted price (sale) in an effort to generate customers who have tried and reviewed it.. The joke will be on him however when/if he raises his SLX price to normal.

I wonder though.. what product are we talking about?

They're vehicles. Trying to be good about the naming names thing, but search SLX for +vital +instructions and it's easy to find.

I list at the same price on both. Though most of my items you can try before you buy at my store in-world (can't do that with SLExchange) so people do tend to visit my store anyway. SLExchange has the advantage that you can buy as a gift though, which I ran out of memory for in my vendors, roll on Mono!
