CONFIRMED: Island moves still break profile picks...

...but it's not as bad as you might think.

I have done island moves in the past and noticed that profile picks broke after the move. It's been many months since I've moved an island, though, so I was curious whether this problem still existed, especially considering the new significance of profile picks in Search > All.

After speaking with Linden Lab and examining the effects of a recent island move, I have determined the following facts about the effects of an island move on businesses on the island that are listed in peoples' picks:

- Teleport links in Search > People picks DO still break, with an error that makes it sound like the place doesn't exist anymore.

- No new HTML listing is generated for the place after the move, meaning that the teleport links in peoples HTML profiles (Search > All) still work!

- Since the New Search engine is oblivious to island moves, the stale picks are still factored into Search > All rankings.

Yes, I moved my estate recently, and it wasn't until this weekend I realized profile picks had broken. I sent a notice out to all my residents informing them of the to update their picks if they had any. Funny you should bring this up.

Believe it or not, I actually started an email thread about this with Linden Lab last week, before I knew you were doing your estate move. But then I talked to our mutual friend while he was in panic mode.
