Ok so I got curious and Dl'd the RC viewer last night. I am running the latest version 19.4.whateveritis and installed it. Mostly to see what the Windlight effects were all about. I normally run the CoolSl viewer. After a flawless install on a Vista machine t took a few moments to load and all but I was finally sitting at a normalish login screen.
Login went fine and then I noticed two things at once. First the environment was awesome the sky clouds, sunset. Then I noticed that my AV looked like a bad cartoon. My hair was the day one kind, no clothes, my skin reverted back to default, etc etc.
I am now hoping that this was in conjunction with the asset issues and the reboot from last night.
My inventory showed all the folders and some of the contents (the others were stuck in loading....until I choose something else). So I could not get me back to normal. Just some weird error about could not update try again later.
I will go home tonight and try again but I hope that this is not a normal problem. If it is what do I need to do to get me back to me and not some anorexic Fred Flintstone look alike?

Some people are reporting skin problems with Windlight. Some tips are in these threads: /333/54/242838/1.html/327/5a/241873/1.htmlGood luck!

You were ruthed. It can happen in any viewer, and yes, last night was not a good night to try anything new..

From: Woodstock Georgia I will go home tonight and try again but I hope that this is not a normal problem. If it is what do I need to do to get me back to me and not some anorexic Fred Flintstone look alike? You have no idea how hard I've been trying for the emaciated look, and you got it that easily? Damn! I'd expect everything to be fine when you try again. There were lots of problems associated with the asset server mess, including the timeouts for changing clothing, skins, attachments, etc., that seem to be the experience here. It's possible you'll have to find and reattach stuff (if it fails to attach it during a login session, it kinda forgets it's supposed to, next time 'round). Most likely it will just remember your skin and shape, but if not, you can just temporarily swap with something from the Library, or one of the Test avatars from the (Control-Alt-Shift-D) Advanced / Character menu.

I use the RC viewer alot these days and have not had this problem. Hope its just a fluke for you that one time. Love the details you can see with the windlight. I have heard some say that what you thought looked great in the reg viewer is not as good with windlight. such as your avy and what you chose for them skin, hair.

Just a quick point and probably not the problem you were referring to but…WindLight does take some getting used to. I remember when it first came out as a First Look viewer, people were screaming “oh my hair..omg what happened to my hair”! ….. the ambient lighting does tend to change familiar colors to something unexpected. It has improved greatly since those early days but for those new to WindLigt…you’ve been warned. On the other hand…the sky’s can be spectacular so its well worth a looksee.

Thanks to all. The emaciated look was a bit unexpected. Thank god I keep an updated Default Me folder saved in my inventory so I don't have to search all over for stuff.
I guessed that my Avie would look different in the RC viewer and was expecting some change but this was drastic. Everything on me looked like it was drawn in crayon. I went back to my CoolSl viewer this AM and all was well.
I'll give it another shot tonight

Yup, sounds like all of last night's asset issues, an not related to the RC. Mari
