Body Part Missing From Database

I tried to do a search here on this. I logged in and received a message that a body part was missing from my inventory. Turns out it is the shape I wear all the time. I can see it in my inventory, but every time I try to wear it, I am told it is not in my database??? I had cleared my cache right before I logged on. Help!!!!

So what does your avatar wear if the custom shape is not available? The default Ruth shape? You may have to pick one of the other shapes that are available out of the "Library" folder if you cant get the one you want to load.

Try clearing your cache and relogging a couple more times. If that doesn't help you may be out of luck. SL regularly looses other inventory items, this is the first time I have heard of it loosing a body shape, but that seems entirely possible. Its all stored in a database (inventory server), and apparanlty thier database gets corrupted regularly in random ways.

I have made two additional copies in folders of my body shape, skin, eyes, etc. Just in case I screw one up trying on different avatars. Its good insurance, but even this may not protect against database corruption. Maybe if you made a minor change to the body hieght between each save it would save it all as a new one.

Good luck to you. If you loose your shape you can always make or buy a new one.

Yes, I was "Ruthed". Found a shape that I bought some time back and had never used, but was able to put it on. I have three copies of my custom shape, but can't wear any.........get the same error message. Only cleared the cache the one time, but inventory keeps sorting every time I relog.

This happened to me earlier today. It turns out this also either a) causes or b) is caused by some sort of Mac error upon login. So i can no longer log in from the normal Mac viewer because the mac client crashes repeatedly.

I have tried installing the candidate viewer, and that seems to help.

It happened to me before was a very busy time-

During a low lag (less people online) I was able to get the shape to work again.

Ohh and always make backups of your shape.

Thanks Colette, I had noticed other weird things happening tonight also. So will just keep trying to get it to work again. Oh, and I have three copies of my shape, but got the same message for each one.

yeah you should copy them with different names. I guess it has something to do with how the asset server works.

Which is probably whats cuasing the problem the asset server.

Ive had similar problems with a Bra back in 05

and my eyes for a while.

All eventually started working again so keep your fingers crossed.

Hopefully you get the shape up and working right again.

Big sigh of relief here!! Just logged back on and was able to wear the original shape, finally. Thanks to all that responded.
