Finding and Joining a Group in Search?

Things have changed since I joined with Search.
Now we try to find a specific group, I get information but no join page.
It's very frustrating and the knowledge basis suggest looking for it in the search tab on group, but how in heck am I suppose to join a group if it doesn't connect me to join the said group?
Any suggestions?

If you use the Search All tab to find a group, you should see a button that says View Full Profile on the results page.

Click that button to get the Group's profile page ( the old style group page).

If you use the Groups tab at the top of the main Search page, you should be in familiar territory.

I don't have a regular viewer available to look at at this moment but I think that's how the regular viewer works.

Both the regular and preview viewers from LL work that way.

It's just not working for me. I am missing something crucial to make it work and I got no clue why.

Not all groups are open join. If they aren't open join then they don't have a join button, and are invitation only. To join an invitation only group, contact an officer and ask to join.

It's open enrollment but I can't find the direct link to join the group because the set up has changed for me since last year.

These instructions are based on the LL regular viewer that I just installed just to make these instructions.

Click the Search button at the bottom of the screen.

Open the Groups tab at the right. You get a screen like this:



Put in your search term and click the Search button. That produces a page of search results like this:



Click on one of the results, just like you click on a link in a page of Google results.

That gets you to a page with a button on it that says View Full Profile, like this:



Click on the View Full Profile button. That produces a dialog like the right side of the picture below:




If it's an open join group there will be a Join button below the group insignia.

If there's no Join button it's not open join and you have to get invited.

You can always ask an officer to invite you.

You can ask a group officer to invite you into the group you want even if it is open join.

Yeah. What SuezanneC said. There have been some minor issues over the weekend - maybe some part of search isn't working for you temporarily.

FD, you have not posted in a while that I have seen. Glad to have you back. I hope it was just the holidays.

The issue is I don't get the "View full profile" I never seen it since they changed the system until you posted it Suezanne.
But there something off on all web pages I see and I have no clue how to fix it.
Colors haven't shown up since I got this computer, parts of screens don't show up,etc
I am using the mandatory version of viewer too. Always do but something on my end never quite works in small ways like others viewers. For longest time I never got the orange pop up screen people speak of when doing transactions, mine is always blue, except when I am using Onrez to set up my vendors.
My human self have been bit under the weather emotionally and physically, etc.

I've had random issues similar to what FD has described. For example, on initial startup I sometimes don't get the picture (lately of various winter scenes) prior to login. Once in, the showcase (for example) will show the list on the right but nothing on the left when I click on an item. Haven't checked the group search to see if that happens (as described in the OP).

I found that this starts occuring after having run two simultaneous logins at some point. After that, the first instance will exhibit this behavior but not the second. Often I will fix it by starting two instances then exiting the first and logging on with the second one. I'd be interested to see if that happens with anyone else, especially FD.

I don't use multi-login accounts. I never have been able to do that in past, although I tried few times years ago.
I do get the lovely Winter scenes at login page when I login but there have been times in recent months it totally black but allows me to login for few moments until I crash or look totally like I am without working functioning friend list.

This makes sense, and results from the fact that there is only one broswer cache for the embedded browser, shared by both accounts when two or more accounts are used on the same machine, whether at the same time or one after the other. Those showcase are web pages displayed by the embedded Mozilla browser.

People whose computers behave in bizarre manners, showing things in the wrong colors, not displaying screens referred to in instructions, etc. could greatly ease the burden of trying to help them by providing screen shots of what is one their screen and explaining what happens on their end of things in enough detail to convey that their question stems not from unfamiliarity with a change in the system's design but from the fact their computer system is all screwed up in a way no one could possibly be expected to figure out or expect without being told.

That was a fair amount of time to invest in downloading and installing the regulation LL client, making screenshots, resizing them to fit in the forum's display, uploading them to my photobucket account, and writing the accompanying text, for not much purpose, apparently.

I never saw the button you pointed too before on my computer if you hadn't.
I don't know why it's not working but at least I got to see what it should look like because of your help.

I needed to install the regular client anyway. Can't answer people's questions properly if you don't have the mainstream viewer installed.

Then there's the Chinese opensim, opengrid one for Dreamworld. At least I won't get that one confused with the rest of them.

The Cool Viewer I've been using lately handles the group search differently than the current regular viewer.

Oh yeah, OnRez, I've got that too.

This is group search in all I see, this what the forum looks like to me,
and my more adult oriented blog site at http://dagonxanith.blogspot.com/ no it's
not work friendly, it has adult language. It should appear to be black but what I see is white. Every webpage is white friend suggested in options changing colors in content that didn't fix, someone few months ago recommended upgrading my video card that didn't fix it either, upgrading and installing new Java didn't fix it either.
