how can I tell if a mall where I am thinking about setting up a shop gets good traffic?
Is there a stats field somewhere?

On the top bar of your client:
Choose world then about land and you will see how big the property is and how much traffic.
Be careful, often the traffic is gamed with bots so look around for clusters of green dots and be sure they are not camping bots. You want to find real traffic, not fake.
