Land Group?

Greetings ^^

I want to buy some neighbouring land, about 4096m, and itsall owned by one group, I know that much for sure because it was my partner's then a friend bought and let her use it, but it was all still one group. Also prim count for both is the same.

The land isn't being used and I would give a good price so I can't see why they wouldn't sell it, the only thing I'm having problms with is identifying the group.
Every time I try to find out waht group owns it, it won't load the groups profile. In fact.. looking back I've never been able to see it. It won't load the groups name on the about land window either.

Obviously its still in existance or the land would have become gov lindens a while ago..

Anyone know a solution, or willing to help me figure it out?

If you want a LM to try to see the group, send me an IM in-world please.

Hi Oki, this sounds like the "group ???" problem. My land does that most of the time.

Try opening up the About Land window, then clicking the button to see the group (which is the NOT grayed out one, next to the "group owned" line if I remember correctly). Even though you just see "waiting" or "???" in About Land, the correct group window should come up.

Thats the problem.. even when I click there, the group profile never loads.

Just visited with Okiphia inworld, and it is indeed an unusual variation of this problem. I almost wonder if the group got disbanded. In theory that should revert the land back to Gov Linden, but I'm seeing a lot of abandoned land that isn't reverting when it should (you have to actually have a Linden go out and do it manually).

Okiphia, I sent you a recommendation inworld, let me know if you find the group. Also, before anything, I highly recommend requesting a sim restart. If you can ask in live chat and be there (in the next sim over) when it happens, you can often see the group names for at least a few minutes after the restart. Not sure that will work in this case, but it's worth a shot. Otherwise, I'm thinking the group itself is somehow corrupted.

This is odd... no group my partner has visible seems to ow it either.. maybe it is unowned technically...

How do I request a sim restart? And.. If it is unowned it'll go to auction won't it? That would suck.. I want it myself lol...

If there's objects set to group on the land, LSL has a command that can get the group key.

One can then add the group key to the end of "http://world.secondlife.com/group/" (or very similar to that) and open a web page with the name of the group and the founder.

I think there are a few.. but.. can you do that without editing that object?

I wrote a script earlier today and tested it on one object of mine.

It uses a sensor to detect objects, takes the sensed key and sticks that into the LSL function llGetObjectDetails. If the object is set to a group, llGetObjectDetails will return the group key.

I've been wondering what the heck good group keys are for years, and with the new search, it struck me that I might finally be able to do something with one.

Whether it would find the group you want or not, I don't know.

I was just on the verge of accepting your TP when yet another TMNT/PN griefing attack shut me down.

Support portal. Skip submitting a ticket and go straight to live chat. To do that, go through the Solution Finder... there will be about 4 steps where it tries to help, and then finally gives you the links for live chat.

LOL... might want to tape this to partner's forehead: "Take land out of group. THEN disband group." :p
