I've been arranging my landmarks and I find it a complete mess. Anyone have a nice way to arrange their landmark folder? Most of the time the landmarks are not very descriptive.

I have started renaming them when they are created. If I am in a shop with cool furniture, the shop name might be something like "Jane's Creations". Weeks later I will have completely forgotten where that cool furniture was located amongst hundreds of landmarks. So I renamed it "Cool furniture at Jane's Creations" so I can search for it eaasier.

Also it would be a good idea to make folders:

Shopping - Home & Garden
Shopping - Furniture
Exploring - Cool Places
Exploring - Cool People
Land Purchasing - Parcels I like

....like that. I have been meaning to do this myself...just need to do it!

I try and organize most of my landmarks. I will create folders of categories. Things like "Art", "Clubs", "Cultural", "Educational", "Friends", "Gardens", "Home Builders", "Home Decorating", "Music", "Resorts", "Sandboxes" and "Shopping" and in some cases these high level categories have sub categories "Shopping - Clothes, Shoes, Jewelry, Shoes, Freebies", etc, etc, etc. Oh and I am not afraid to rename landmark descriptions.

We all have our systems and this is mine. I find this way I can find things fairly easily and quickly. However, since things in SL change and sometimes quickly it's not a bad idea to revisit some of these landmarks.

Finally, for some of my landmarks I have even prefixed "High", "Medium" and "Low" which is nothing more than a personal bias feeling I have towards the place the landmark represents. There are places I want to keep, but when (take shopping as an example) I want to re-visit the places I had a "High" impression of before I visit the "Low" impression places. But I have plenty of categories which have yet to be classified this way as this was only recently adopted while looking for some home furnishing businesses.

I also try to go by categories. Home (for furniture, garden, etc.).. Clubs, Help (for helpful places to send new residents or polish up on stuff), Clothing (stores, etc.). Then of course I have the "junk drawer" for LMs called "Misc."

Other than leaving the bulk in the landmarks folder, I've put my most revisited and important ones in a '*favs*' folder so it's near the top of inventory when I open it. Places change often. So many clubs gone completely, shops moved, I don't worry too much about it.

Aye, very true. I was gone from SL for about a year... I've been visiting landmarks to see what's there, and it's been an interesting game to play. It's almost like Russian Roulette, and nearly as dangerous. lol

Not happy about Linden Labs purchase of XStreet (formerly SLX) and OnRez. Will this mean LL will ban resident run online shoping outlets in favor of their own?

I have landmarks?

The tools for using them make them extremely useless, sadly.

Similar to that, I've created a *Mc Stuff folder with subfolders (clothing, gadgets, skins/avs) with my personal top used items.

They do? Nobody told me, I guess. I use them all the time. I haven't found any tool better for getting around SL than the Landmarks folder, including my Mystitool's LM function. Well, its Teleport History function runs the LM folder a close second.

Arrange? As in organize......what a great idea! LOL As of yet...I haven't tackled landmarks. I do rename them so I will remember why I saved them to begin with.

Seriously tho....I've found the easiest way to organize inventory is to have folders created and as I get new stuff.....immediately put it in the apporpriate folder. It works most of the time, but I still have to weed thru every so often and dig things out of 'my inventory' to place them where I can actually find them. At over 10,000 items... I KNOW there's good stuff there that I have completely forgotten about. *sigh*

Like Maddy, I rename them when I make or are given them.

I thought about categorizing them like my wardrobe, but haven't, I find I can think back to where I was at the time, and find them better from when I got them. (My inventory is sorted by date...)

Yes, in RL I make piles too! ;)
