I've been having a lot of trouble staying connected to SL for awhile now, Support was no help. Before I buy a new modem and a new graphics card I thought I'd try and log the problem (I didn't know we had one already, I just found it) There are a lot of various warning lines in it but the first 2 are scarry looking...
2009-09-03T19:13:52Z WARNING: LLWinDebug::checkExceptionHandler: Our exception handler (00946050) replaced with 4F6E6ADA!
2009-09-03T19:13:52Z WARNING: LLAppViewerWin32::initHardwareTest: Someone took over my exception handler (post hardware probe)!
I tried reinstalling the SL Client but still get that warning in the log.. what does it mean?

Wow.. the same answer here as I got from my trouble ticket. none. Can someone please look at your SL log and see if it has lines similar to the ones in my last message?
You will probably find your log at..

See, I've never had that problem before.. so I don't know the answer. Might help if you mentioned which viewer you are using and you said you were having problems staying connected? Were there other issues that you might have noticed too?

I get the same thing in the log any client I use.. I did a complete uninstall of all clients.. (I had SL Regular release, Snowglobe, Emerald and the SL Release Candidate on my drive) then a disk wipe of all their traces and registry clean-up/defrag and reinstalled the SL client.. still had that message in my logs. I did another uninstall.. the whole rigamarole down to cold booting again and reinstalled Emerald.. I get booted off less with it, it's the only one on my system now. I don't know if that warning has always been in the log or not.. I never needed to look at it before, didn't even know I had one. When the trashing off started it was things like looking at the map or teleporting anywhere would trash me off, those mostly just went away on their own... but I still get trashed if I walk and edit at the same time or try to edit linked objects in a many primmed item (means I can't fix my hair anymore) I upgraded all of my drivers and my system in general, did a lot of housekeeping My first thing is the worry over that message in the log.. then being able to edit my builds again... if it's any help here is the info from help.. Those have been there in the log file for a long time.. I have them too.. 2009-09-04T04:47:15Z WARNING: LLWinDebug::checkExceptionHandler: Our exception handler (00946050) replaced with 4F6E6ADA!
2009-09-04T04:47:15Z WARNING: LLAppViewerWin32::initHardwareTest: Someone took over my exception handler (post hardware probe)!
2009-09-04T04:47:16Z WARNING: LLGLManager::initWGL: No ARB WGL render texture extensions
Going to need a serious inside guy to tell you what they mean, but I do remember seeing them in the logs dating back to 1.19 at least. More than likely it's only an internal flag used as a check, not something wrong IMO.

Thanks, that's a bit of a relief.. I can concentrate on the prob and not be totally freaked. Reading the log makes my brain itch but it seems like the key to fixing my malaise is probably in there somewhere. Thanks again.

Do a search both in this forum and in the tech forum for Radeon. LL really does not play well with a ATI Radeon card. Look specifically for driver recommendations.

That said I am running Graphics Card Vendor: ATI Technologies Inc. Graphics Card: Radeon X1950 Series Windows Graphics Driver Version: 7.14.0010.0482 OpenGL Version: 2.0.6400 Release in a crossfire setup (ie 2 cards) and having VERY VERY few problems

Thanks, been there done that, I tried that first, then tried several drivers mentioned, checked the Jira, (gads what a mess to try and learn anything from) and no joy there. About the only things left now is to buy a new modem/router and or a graphics card and I'm real reticent to do that not knowing if that will fix anything or just be pounding more money down a rat hole, all my other stuff runs aces. : igh::

Maybe I really am just stupid, but why not just download sl liek most of us do? Click it, sit back and let it all come on line. Don't fiddle with it. A bloke I have to work with in real - my professional "life" depends on him - has a wise saying, "If it works, don't fix it" and "KISS" Mind you, he also has a tattoo on his scalp and he reads Truman Capote and Jack Kerouac, and believes there are mammoths in central Russia so dont believe everything he says.
Just download ordinary version and not worry about vendors and snowglobes and gagabites.

Do you know anyone who would let you use their router for a few hours?

No I don't but luckily they aren't killer expensive these days, it looks like maybe it is a connection problem, now that I know I have a log I see a lot of these errors... 2009-09-05T06:05:00Z INFO: LLXferManager::retransmitUnackedPackets: dropping xfer 216.82.39.107:13013:VFile 5c5bff59-afe0-dadd-6eaa-9f2fc02803cf:texture packet retransmit limit exceeded, xfer dropped hmm.. I wonder why the packets are unacked? There are other similar telecomm type INFO and WARNING lines. I'll try asking the cable people to monitor my line for a day or two and see if anything is hinkie, thanks
