Hello there...
I have run into a snag.. I just bought a skybox and want to rez it. I am looking for sky box space and I am not sure how to search for it.
I could put in Land rental to rent some space that just doesnt seen right.
So then I typed in Skybox rental and that wasnt right either..
they all had thier own skyboxes..
So how do I search for a chunk of space to rent where I can rez my skybox to live in?

"Land" includes everything above it vertically, and the prims allocated to that parcel. So you need land.

Typically, you will get a parcel of land that starts at ground level and goes up to 4,000 meters above it. Whether you put your house on the ground or in the sky doesn't really matter. You just need a piece that is large enough to rez your sky box and is also large enough to have enough prims to be able to rez it, as well.

You don't really rent slices of the sky in any way - though I suppose someone who typically rented out plots might give you some space in the sky that isn't necessarily empty below it - it's not common practice.

Yukai, when you buy land you're pretty much buying the land and most of the sky above it. To be able to have a skybox you'll need to buy the land below it. I can't remember the price but I bought a 512m at a very cheap rate. You're other option is to find a friend who may allow you to use that space or you could buy a small chunk of land. The land I bought was ugly as hell, but it doesn't matter because I have my skybox built so high that I don't have to look at the junk around my parcel of land.

The 512 parcel I bought this week was around $2500 L. It was probably more than I should have paid for what prices are these days, but it was next to my existing parcel.

The first 512 m2 of tier is included in the premium membership. Here is the tier pricing structure.

Some of the places with prefab skyboxes do have cheap rent because they pool prims and stagger tenant heights, so you can get more x/y space in trade for less prim density. With these arrangements you are always going to share prims with your neighbors, so it would be a good idea to ask around and see if the land owner is good about enforcing prim limit. Some rental spots are willing to pick up their prefabs and let you rez your own building, dig through the notecards they have in their rental boxes and see if that's an option. Unfortunately there really isn't a standard name for this kind of rental arrangement, so it takes more legwork than search time to find places like that.

Keep in mind with a 512 parcel you will only get 117 prims.....this goes quick if you're not familiar with counting and keeping track of prim use.

You might want to save yourself some future frustrations and look for 1024 plot, just so you have a decent amount of prims to rez AND furnish a skybox. What we really are renting or buying is prim space (memory use), not so much land mass. The big advantage to doing the skybox thing is you wont be quite so tempted to do a bunch of landscaping on your plot ;) But you'll still want enough prims to play with.
