I'm wondering if this latest weirdness has something to do with the upgrade I just installed (regular SL viewer). I noticed more frequent notices now about crossing over from one type of sim to another, whatever that means. In doing so, I seem to lose items from my cache.
On several occasions these past few days, I crossed from one sim to another, with a friend. When that happens, some prims, which were perfectly fine just a moment ago, do not load, or load in the wrong place. Going back into the other type of sim returns the item. In recent cases, hair was floating about in the wrong place or attachments failed to appear at all - but only to me, not the person I'm with. These items did not eventually load as is sometimes the case, but were just gone until we left the sim (or I relogged).
Does this have to do with the new upgrade?
Also, what's the deal with the IM tab no longer flashing when you have messages waiting??? Man, what a pain that is when you have several conversations going! Is there any way to turn that back on?
B.

Not sure about the IM's.....but I use windlight and I also get those sim crossing messeges. For the most part it hasn't affected my avatar & prim attachements....But....it's a universal problem often when going from one region to another.....attachments will sometimes sort of lose their grip, lol, so to speak. The other day I landed in a particularly busy area and found most of the prim items on my outfit were attched to my pelvis. I just detached them and re-attached. That's all it takes to correct that problem, but yeah, it's a pain in the a$$.
The warnings are 'new' but the issue itself is not......any time you teleport you are potentially crossing into a different sim.... and if you are walking from one to another, it's always advisable to move slowly so everything stays in tact. It's a memory issue as far as I know.....the system having to catch up with the data of your presence.
Losing inventory is another thing all together.....clearing cache and re-logging usually helps.....but if crossing a sim meant losing items every time....we'd all have empty inventories by the end of our first hour in world. LOL If this is happening to you and you are not able to recover any lost items after relog...you need to report it for sure!

I noticed the non-flashing IM tabs last night, after the sim had had its upgrade to the 'new version'. I thought it was just me, and temporary, but now it looks like a bug.

I consider it a viewer downgrade! I run Nicholaz BE-v which goes on 1.18.5 when using my laptop. The crappy video on the laptop gives me around 5-6 FPS. I installed 1.19.0.5 in a new directory. Holy cow, it was not long before it crawled to .8 FPS! It was insane. Back to Nicholaz...

The non-flashing tabs have been a "feature" of the latest Windlight release for as long as we've had it. It irked me at first, but I've since got used to it. Besides, I'm not popular enough to have multiple conversations on the go The bold type now used for IM text is a pain in the proverbials, however. Completely unnecessary.

Flashing tabs... 2 people voted to turn the flashing off. 106 people (so far) have voted to return the old behaviour. Cast your vote: http://jira.secondlife.com/browse/VWR-4575

The "different simulator version" warning indicates that the sim is running the Havok 4 beta physics software. It might also indicate that the sim's been upgraded to the new 1.19 server software, which would explain your temporary inventory losses.
File a support ticket and a JIRA.
