Correct me if I am wrong, but didnt the parameters show when editing bulk linked parts, for example.

One build of say 10 linked part, and another build of 6 linked parts. Right clicked the 10 group and edit and then hold shift and left click the 6, and the parameters disappear? So rotating these together you cannot see if you are 90, 180, 270 or whatever rotation you want. I could swear they used to be there?

I was just editing a build which has some phantom prims amongst it, but obvioulsy didnt linked the phantom parts. But when I clicked all the parts so they were (in the hand so to speak). the parameters disappeared.

You can't link phantom prims.

When you click more than one prim or linkset, the form does go blank until you link.

If you read my post Seven I know you cannot linked phantom parts

But I am sure before when you had builds (in the hand) you could see the parameters, to rotate.

That's true.

Since it's mentioned, is there any way to prevent a child prim becoming phantom if it is linked to a phantom root prim?

I was just looking at this script, which does the reverse:

Yep, although as far as I can be sure that was only for the last one or two releases of the viewer and they weren't visible on earlier releases.

I do not remember t being that way. You can select several prims/objects and rotate them on a center axis with the mouse but not with the dialog box.

It does seem to me that if I have more than one prim selected that is not linked in, the rotate values are not shown in the build box, but I can click the radio button for rotate and rotate them with the mouse.

I think this is why it doesn't particularly bother me those values are no longer visible: it was never possible to enter coordinates or rotation parameters for a selection of unlinked objects that would affect them all. Back in my newbie days I often used to mess up what I was doing because of this.

I quickly learned to use the mouse controls while keeping an eye on the black bar at the top of the screen.
