Prim limits on land

I just bought some land and it has a prim limit of 237. I am concerned about building a house and furnishing it (should have thought of that before I bought).

Can a house count as 1 prim if all the objects are linked together?

Also, if you own 2 pieces of adjoining land, each with a limit of 237 prims, could you have more than 237 on part of it and less on the other? Or does it just become one larger piece of land with a higher prim limit?

Can the value "Primitives Parcel Supports" be increased?

I am searching the Knowldegebase and Support, but kind of in a hurry since the owner has taken the adjoining land off the market until tomorrow, when I must commit to the additional purchase or let it go back on the market.

Any object can be linked with lots of other obects to form a single object but the number of prims doesn't change just because they are linked. If you link 100 objects together that single object will count as 100 prims.

As long as the two parcels are in the same region you can use the prims combined total on either or both of the parcels. The parcels don't even have to be adjoining......but must be in the same region. The total prims of the two plots are yours to do with as you please.......on either plot.

And no a house that is linked will have to total of the linked prims making the house. However you can get some really nice prefabs that are quit low on prim count. Or you can make your own using creative ways to save prims by using hollowed cubes and such.....you should be able to make a pretty nice house using about 10 prims. I know you can purchase some that have about that number. Same with furniture.

Learn to be prim conscious LOL It will come second nature after a short time . :)

OK, great thanks so much. I did find "How can I get more prims on my land?" in the Knowledgebase, which confirms exactly what you said. However, the Knowledgebase has a screenshot with this answer, showing the following statistics:

Simulator primitive usage: 182 out of 15000 (14818 available)

Primitives parcel supports: 32

Primitives on parcel: 63

This is the example from support, not my land. It's kind of confusing.

Then, I went back to my land:

Simulator primitive usage: 6 out of 234 (228available

Primitives parcel supports: 32

Primitives on parcel: 6 (there's a couple palm tree

The piece next to it that I might buy says:

Simulator primitive usage: 15 out of 703 (688 available)

Primitives parcel supports: 234

Primitives on parcel: 4 (it has a for sale sign on it)

So, this piece I might buy supports the same, 234, but says 688 available. Would that change once it's been sodl?

yes, a confusing example...to know about your land go to-world- then- about land- and you will know about your land!
edit: your land is only the -primitive parcel support- don't look the simulator one, is another confusing thing,it refers to the land owned by the person who sold you the land, not YOUR land....:)

Ah, that clears things up considerably. So my piece supports 234, and if I buy the piece next to it, I'll have 468 to use anywhere on the the combined area.

From what others have posted here, that should be enough for a house and furnishings.

I continue to be impressed by how knowledgeable people here are, and how generous they are with that knowledtge - thanks to all.

Goodnight.

Simulator primitive usage: 182 out of 15000 (14818 available)

-Sim prim usage is a figure detailing how many prims you are allowed to have inside of the same sim, and how many are already used. It will cover *all* land that you own in that single sim, regardless of whether it's connected or not.

Primitives parcel supports: 32

This is the total number of prims that the selected land *parcel* willcontribute to the sim prim usage allowance.

Primitives on parcel: 63

This is the total number of prims actually on the selected piece of land.

Big complicated example that should cover almost everything and make the numbers make more sense for you.
http://www.rebirthed.com/guildsnapshots/landexample.jpg

I own all of the blue land, 6 different splotches (actually 7, but you can't see one of the extra 16's under the tree cover.)

1 and 2 are combined into the same parcel "Rainy Day"
3-6 are all combined into the same parcel "Svavarsson Restoration Project"

I own both parcels but I choose not to combine them (so I can sell the restoration project pieces back to end users without having to redo my shops land settings)

When I click on a piece of land in the Rainy Day parcel I get the following info-
Sim Prim Usage: 151 out of 340 (189 available)
Prims parcel supports: 252
Prims on parcel: 138

The land in sections 1 and 2 (the same parcel, but spread across the road) can support 252 prims on it's own, and there are 138 already present.

When I click on a piece of land in the Svavarsson Restoration Project parcel I get the info-
Sim Prim Usage: 151 out of 340 (189 available)
Prims parcel supports: 87
Prims on parcel: 12

The land in these 3 sections (same parcel! remember parcels don't have to be connected) can support 87 prims and is currently supporting 12.

I can place down an additional 189 prims in *either* parcel before running out. If I wanted to stack 189 plywood boxes on the same 16sqm I could do so. If I wanted to put half and half, I could do so. Each parcel dedicates a certain amount of prim usage into the sim wide pool, but all parcels can draw from it.

468 is a lot of prims if you use them frugally ^.^

hehe, just wait for sculpted prims to be used effectively! your 1024 meter plot will be capable of quite a lot! Detailed, wonderful doors on 1 prim, two detailed windows on one prim, stairs, banisters, molding for buildings. 1 prim furniture pieces, or 2-3 prims for an extravagant amount of detail.
