For some reason I cant alter my Perms since loading the latest SL viewer. Basically all my stuff is now No Mod/No Copy/No Transfer??? Even when I change the Perm in my inventory and put it back into the Point of Sale it reverts back to copybot defensive mode ..Lol - NO MOD NO COPY NO TRANSFER. It isnt doing my fashion business any good as my customers think I have become totally paranoid. I may be staring the problem in the face but a lil help from fellow SL-ers would be welcoming. Feel free to send me an IM or a notecard too.

If anything within the creations have a NO perm, then the whole thing appears to have it. So all perms being NO can be made up from the NOs of different bits inside the item. For instance, the prims of the item might be full perm, but a script inside might be no mod. The whole item will then show as no mod. Another script inside it might be no copy, so the whole item will then show as no mod, no copy, and yet the prims are still full perms.
If a single item inside it is no mod, no copy, no trans, then the whole item will show as that, even though the prims are still full perms. _____________________

I really has to be something in or on the prims...like a no copy script and a no transfer texture (for example) or something...because I don't think it is really possible to make something no copy/no transfer any other way. _____________________

Feel free to send me an IM or a notecard too. As an aside: There's no such thing as copybot defensive mode. I suppose some people may have started using that terminology to describe particular sets of permissions, but that just perpetuates the myth that permissions can be used to foil the so-called copybot method of content theft. The copybot method works off the data that must be sent to the user's viewer in order for the viewer to display the world. The viewer must know the shapes of things in order to draw them, and that means it will always know the size and shapes of the prims. Similarly for the textures. If you see a texture on some random object, even if you own nothing at all related to that object, and even if the texture or object is no copy, no transfer, no mod, your computer still has a copy of the texture so that it can draw it on your screen. Everybody gets these copies, not just the people using illicit viewers. |

I would like to thankyou for the replies but the items of clothing show up as no perms to other people but not me. I am the original creator of these items. For Example I made a lovely Halter top set it to Mod/copy only and then put it into a Sale Poster. To me it says it is Mod/copy for everyone, but when i come and check it using an ALT it says NO MOD NO COPY NO TRANSFER. The wording of Copybot defensive mode I actually coined up as to mock what on SL is happening as I cant understand it.
Basically I set the Top as MOD/COPY and it is my original work with no other items attached just a single Top. When I try to sell it, it shouts to my customers as NO MOD NO COPY NO TRANS???? These perms are giving my small clientel second thoughts about buying my items thru no genuine fault of my own. I never had this problem with previous viewers. I would be over the Moon should anyone be able to Help me in this lil crisis at my lil store on the Prairie. If anyone can spare a moment feel free to come check my items to see if you see No perms in the content folder of the Sale Poster. _____________________

If anyone can spare a moment feel free to come check my items to see if you see No perms in the content folder of the Sale Poster. The content folder always shows no perms to others, regardless of the actual permissions; it has always been like that. Check in the Buy window before you hit the Buy button, that should have the correct perms (or just Buy with your alt and check in its inventory ) |

Yes, if you look into the Content pane of someone else's vendor, items will always show up as "no copy, no mod, no transfer" to indicate that they cannot do anything with the copy _that is in the vendor_.
The only way to change that is to turn on the "allow anyone to copy" flag, which will allow people to grab your items right out of the vendor for free. I suspect you don't want that. ![]() If they buy the item, they recieve their own copy, with the permissions you specify for next owner. |

I didn't buy anything, but for most of your dresses it looks like the skirt/glitch pants/prim skirt are always set to "modify/copy/no transfer" for next owner while the top is always set to "no modify/no copy/transfer". Of course the slam bit can still change the permissions when the prims are actually attached--- How are you setting the permissions on the top? Not to question anything but a quick step-by-step explanation might provide the missing detail on why the tops aren't coming out M/C/NT. |
