From: Argus Collingwood Mega Prim textured with what you want it to say and positioned below 300 meters but not too close to the ground. Textures don't show up on the world map. Only prims and colors. You have to actually build the image or letters out of prims.

does transparency have any effect? what about the alphachannel of the textures? And is the color just from the average color tinting, just the averaged color of the texture, the color tinting of just an specific face or what? And is it just the bounding box or the actual shape of the prim that is taken in consideration?

You have to actually build the image or letters out of prims. yup. and on that note, i'll suggest taking a look at Bowfin on the map sometime and hazard a guess as to how long that image took...

Take a peek at about 300m in Miramare, for several examples of these.

From: TigroSpottystripes Katsu does transparency have any effect? Yes. From: someone what about the alphachannel of the textures? no From: someone And is the color just from the average color tinting, just the averaged color of the texture, It's tint, not texture. From: someone the color tinting of just an specific face or what? I don't know. From: someone And is it just the bounding box or the actual shape of the prim that is taken in consideration? Approximation of the shape. Boxes show up in the correct orientation. Spheres show up as hexagons. Sculpts show up as shaded spheres, which is silly but Phillip Linden thinks it's cool so that's not going to change. Beyond that I don't know.

From: Kelli May ...and nearby in Stump, where there is a working digital clock that shows up on the map. Sadly the map updates don't keep up with it. but it DOES tell you when that section was last updated. so, until somewhat recently, it would read the same for days or weeks on end.
