Because i look for jobs at various nightclubs, but i haven't been hired yet because of Real Life Issues my times are mon-sat: 12:00 to 1:00,6:00 to 7:00 and 11:00 to 12:00PM PDT,and Sun 6:00 to 7:00,11:00 to 12:00, unless if something comes up.
Does that mean that i'm not able to be employed because of that?

I don't know what kind of work you were wanting to do, but I am seeing that you are only on for an hour at a time. Most SL club events are 2-3 hours in duration. So if you can only host/dj/dance for one hour out of the 2 or 3, they probably would hire someone who could be on for a whole event instead.

Maybe self-employment would give you more flexible working hours, Axle?

I prefer to hang out in clubs that have open 'dance poles' and 'bartender spots' anyone can use - with the owner taking a cut of my tips. Find some of those, jump on the pole or get behind the bar, and work it in chat.

Axl,
Just consider if you turned in an application with those hours. It'd be damn hard to find a job. Why would SL be any different. Let's consider this:
You apply for a club as a host and you are accepted. In order to accomodate your schedule, but they now have to adjust Suzy's hours down from 3 hours to 2 hours. Not many employees will stand for that.

Most places who hire hosts at a club require you to work 2 hour shifts.. The times you display are only 1 hour time frames. your availability is important to the employer and looking for stable employees.

I have RL time pressures too, so work as a dancer at a club where you're 'freelance' - come and go as you please and keep all tips (no 'take' by the club). Suits me just fine.

Does that mean that i'm not able to be employed because of that? Events are two hours minimum - that's why they cant possibly hire you as a host or DJ - you would miss half the event. But clubs need Managers that can make the event happen. You do not have t be at every event you oversee. You do need a good amount of knowledge on Scheduling, posting events, hiring DJs and hosts, etc. Join the open enrollment group CLUB JOBS and see what these club owners are looking for. There are about 40 current club owners seeking employees through this group. .

I'm fairly new to SL, I just put up a few vendors on my skybox/sandpit an hour or so ago, I'll cop 15 to 20 percent of sales for myself. I pay $L30 a week for an ad and $L50 a week for a classified and paid up for a years membership I get $L300 a week stipend. So that is all covered. Also when I bought land I had a bonus tier as a new user so have 1500 odd sqm for only $US8 a month. I don't know traffic rates but with the ads have1800 approx this month with out any bots. Thing with this for the OP is you don't have to be online.

From: Bradley Bracken Now that you've opened a shop, what are you going to sell? That's my problem. I'd love to put up a spot, but I don't have anything I've made just yet. I've also been developing a club idea, but I can see from looking that it takes an insane amount of time to get and keep a club going.

From: Elanthius Flagstaff Charming tool name. =^-^= As for the OP on jobs. Is it a job you really want or is it money? There are many other ways to make money in SL that doesn't put you on a rigorous schedule or under the thumb of some 'manager' who you'll never have a binding contract with. (^_^) You've said you already have some items up for sale. Hopefully they're your original creations. Because, people spot Buisness In A Box items in a flash and usually walk on while you take a hit to your reputation as a builder/designer/seller. (>_< Some forms of contests are very profitable. Competing in "Best In" events are common even though they wind up being popularity contests. Building and creation events are a good next option. Show and tell events allow you more time to be creative then contribute your work at the show when you decide it's worthy. And, silly things like little race and game events at parties. Getting first place at a t00b race event can get you L$100 or more, depending on the funding for the night. (^_^) My own choice has been education. I teach building classes for an hour on Thursday night each week. I instruct people on how to use more odd aspects of prim building with the examples of low prim furniture and simple flexible and light emitting items. I get to meet a lot of nice new people still getting used to the tools SL has to offer, earn tips, and net an hourly wage of L$500. I also co-host a Question & Answer event on Saturday nights that earns me another L$350. I'm doing this while facilitating a RL full time job. So, there are options out there, but, they are difficult. Work is work. SL or not. That's how the cookie crumbles. (^_^)y

If i may refute that I see a lot of people calling club contests popularity contest... they are to some extent but it's not hard to work around that. All your really need to do is be part of the conversations in the club. It doesn't matter if you have the best outfit if you never say a word the entire event. And to tell your the truth, many regulars of a club might be "tired" of winning, or seeing the same person win all the time.. and would only be too happy to vote for the new guy. Johnnies tricks to winning contests: 1) Don't go to packed clubs.. You have a better chance if there are under 10 people there... and there are a TON of clubs out there running contests that have 2 or 3 people there. 2) Talk it up and have fun. You wont get many votes if you don't participate. 3) If you are a guy you have a MUCH better chance of winning. I can't tell you the number of contests I have run where there was only one guy there, or no guys at all... pretty much win by default there. 4) Try and be there the entire event... You won't get as many votes if you just show up with 45 min or less to go in the event.
