I'm going to name names and name a business here. So many come to the Forums unhappy about their treatment by a business that I just have to give kudos where they are do and to me, what happened yesterday was just over the top good business.
Over a year ago, I bought my first SL house, from Houses that Jack Built (Jack Feaver). I've had several houses since then, on different parcels, and somehow, in my diligence to keep my inventory down, I deleted that first house, which I really did like.
I'm about ready to change houses again, and thought of that one, and decided to go and buy it again. It had a kitchen in the display model (Treasure doesn't 'do' SL kitchens) that I didn't remember in the first one, so I IM'd the creator, Jack Feaver, to see if the kitchen was deleteable or what.
He contacted me back and ........ GAVE ME THE HOUSE!!! I was totally shocked and had NOT expected that, as it's been a llooonnggg time since I bought it. He said that he looked in his folders and could see that I"d purchased it a long time ago plus a few other houses from him, and that his houses are copyable so no need to buy it again.
So I am just really a happy customer and decided to give his business a plug, I thought it was really just a nice thing to do.

There's lots of store keepers who provide excellent customer service. We only hear the bad ones in the forums, but tend to forget the good ones out there, which I think are the majority. I could name some names and tell stories of great service I've had, but won't because this post should be about you and Jack.
I'm glad it worked out well for you.

It's nice to hear a positive comment about a business in SL. You are absolutely right, almost every time someone is on here about a business, they are complaining. Very nice one and thanks for sharing...

I've bought a couple of houses from him...he's great, and I like his designs. A lot.

Goodness! Where are all the nominations for such an award? Off the top of my head for excellent customer service and quality products: Cigar Yachts Coastal Mariner Damani Dreamfall Eldrich Interiors Mixtape Islands Paradise Homes Winterfell/Caledon @home and many others . . . And, many more individual designers and decorators who have been incredibly patient with my learning curve. Thank you all! PS [Refrained from naming names, but please feel to contact me inworld for details.]

And there were no nominations, just my own admiration for an incident that happened that I decided to post about. I have also bought from most of the businesses you list above except the yacht maker, and have never had a bad experience. Just that this one seemed exceptional to me. I wasn't at all expecting someone to replace something that I deleted myself, accidentally, over a year ago.

Treasure, I am glad you had a good experience in SL - as I said to one visitor yesterday who complimented me on my politeness, it really doesn't cost anything and, if it makes the customer feel welcome, then why not? SL should be something we all can enjoy.
I also believe that there is a silent majority of businesses out there that provide great service, and nobody ever mentions them or hears about them, until THEY have an issue.
And what he did for you didn't cost him anything - like he said. It was just a nice thing to do.

my best customer experience came from Craig from Bits and Bobs not only is he a nice guy to chat with, but even though he is extremely busy, he took the time to replace things SL decided to eat, more than once as well as took the time to just chat with me, person to person, with ideas, suggestions and funny quips, among other things he has done for me. (oh, not that, get your mind out of the gutter people!)
My kudos goes to Craig!
and if you are reading this Craig, hugs to you, for being you!
coming in with a close second is October, the creator of the paradise blanket.

From: Kalderi Tomsen I also believe that there is a silent majority of businesses out there that provide great service, and nobody ever mentions them or hears about them, until THEY have an issue. I agree that good business owners are the silent majority. I've almost without exception received wonderful customer service in the rare cases I needed some help. I'll add Lover's Playground to the list. I purchased a bed, rezzed it and it went unused for months. One day I happened to wander past it with my sun set to midnight and realized my white bread spread and pillows were set to full bright and the bed was no mod. arrg. I sent the creator a note card, but I'd purchased the bed months before (couldn't even remember when) and hadn't even saved the transaction history. There was really no reason he should have done anything for me, as the bed was exactly what I purchased and worked perfectly. He took the time out of his day to rez a new one, turn off the full bright on all the prims, and exchange my copy for that one, all the while he carried on a friendly conversation with me in IM. They earned a very loyal customer that day.

From: Rhaorth Antonelli my best customer experience came from Craig from Bits and Bobs. Yep, Craig's a great guy. I never had any "customer" issues with Bits and Bobs, but I did IM him a question about his products when I was first becoming interested in animating myself, he turned out to be online and we had a very pleasant chat and he volunteered some helpful tips that I didn't expect and probably wouldn't have had the nerve to ask for. Another time I sent him a message about some goofballs who were selling animated furniture without changing the perms on his animations (they even left the balls red! Sheesh!) and he got right back to me and engaged me in an interesting discussion about the sad state of SL as regards the full perms animation market and the needs of furniture makers. He certainly seems modest enough about his success, I hope he appreciates from time to time the mark he has made on a certain segment of SL and the reputation he so richly deserves.

Twice when I purchased items from Creative Fantasy (garden supplies), server issues caused either delivery failure or failure to rez. Both times I experienced great customer service and my items were replaced.

Customer Service is everything!
I long ago lost track of the hours I spent over the years helping a new home buyer Rez and position their new house on their land. I met alot of really neat people that way and from a business standpoint ensured alot of repeat business.

I've admired Houses That Jack Built for a long time. I don't think I've bought any because I'm usually looking for something a little more out in left field, but I like his work. I have always had great customer service from every merchant I've bought from - except one fairly well known and respected one, and I'm not particularly angry about that incident. Maybe their IM's were capped and the notecard was not received or SL was just acting up.

That's a great story It's nice to read positive stuff. I've never had a bad experience with SL business owners, really. The few times I've had questions or needed something, I've been really fortunate to have dealt with good folks. And since we're on the topic of happy stories.....I got a good one too. I do custom shapes periodically for folks....tho I ditched any advertising a while back and just do it by word of mouth or repeat customers. Last year.....maybe longer....it was well before I moved south in May......a woman had asked me to do this male shape for a friend of hers. I had already done a few jobs for her so I was happy to oblige. I passed the shape to her when I was done....as well as the clothing I found for him (she wanted a spacific suit) and LM's for the demo hair and skin I used. Since she's on the other side of the globe...I never worry about a quick response.......but this time......she never ever got back to me except to say the guy was still deciding. Well.....it's not in my nature to freak about things. I didn't worry about it and eventually forgot all about it. Well......yesterday I get an IM from her out of the blue.......she is freaking out apologizing for forgetting all about that shape, and for not ever paying me for my work/time. I was like.....no worries...it's all good....but she insisted she needed to pay me and promtply threw a good handful of L's my way. She then proceeded to also give me a couple beautiful little pieces of jewelery which i just thought was totally sweet. (in fact....the ring she gave me is a dragonfly.....something that just so happens to have high signifigence in my family.....something she would never have known) I was floored and totally delighted at the integrity she demonstrated. I would never ever have demanded anything for that job....she'd given me plenty of paid work. But that was very telling of the type of person she is.....in or out of SL. Anyway......there's enough wonderful genuine souls out there that I think it makes our time here worth it. As long as wont don't waste energy freaking about the negatives......we'll find the positives.
