How do I stop group invites?

Hi, everyone. Three people in the past month have reported to me that they keep receiving requests to join my group (Cho no Chashitsu). The system I use only logs names and I manually send out requests once a week or every two weeks ONE TIME ONLY.

SL is somehow glitching. I'm going to AR myself (LOL) and see if I can get some results.

But is there something else I can do? Has anyone else heard of this?

I'm hassling people and I don't want to.

*cries*

Need more info. What system are you using?

My fingers. LOL

I'm manually adding people through the group interface. I use another system that just logs names of people, but it's benign and doesn't send out requests.

I got that, but maybe the thing you think is benign isn't quite so benign! Does it have landmark/object giving capability?

I use a system like that....logs names and I manually copy and paste them into the group invite window. theres been a couple times where I forget to clear the names I already added so when I come back and check again a few days later I send invites to the same people accidentally. I've gotten a few IMs about it before too. Maybe thats it?

So that's how I get those un asked for group invites? I'm sure I'm not alone, but perhaps you should rethink your method.

are you sure you're hitting "search" in the people chooser? I found that I kept muting the first person in my list of calling cards, again and again... When you open the people chooser, look at the "list" below the name entry area. Are those the people who keep complaining?

The system I use requires someone to click on a sign that specifies "click here to join the group". It sounds like Lucrezia is using something similar, not just sending invites to random people.

The system I'm using just logs the names. It doesn't send anything. It's from Crystal Gadgets.

How I add people:

I go the members & roles tab of my group.
I click Invite New Person...
I click Open Person Chooser.
I copy and paste the name in the dialog box and click Find.
I double click the name.
I repeat the above two steps until I'm done with everyone.
Then I click Send Invitations.

Now here's the thing, I don't actually use the list of names stored in the Crystal Gadgets system. I receive e-mail notices and use those. When I've added someone, I delete the e-mail and then empty the Crystal Gadgets stored list.

People are complaining that they receive 5 and 30 (no kidding) at one time!

I'm griefing people and I hate it. I don't know what else to do except cancel my group.

No one has the ability to add people EXCEPT me.

Further thoughts?

Did you check the JIRA to see if it's a bug that's been reported? You might not be the only one suffering from it. Fortunately.. I don't have this issue at this time.

I've looked through the first few pages and couldn't find anything regarding this specific issue. It's likely me. I'm always the one who has obscure problems. heeeee.

Oooh how about this:
http://jira.secondlife.com/browse/SVC-1428

And lo, your group contains unicode symbols :)

It appeared on sldev today, it's something being patched very soon

(Note group invites are a type of IM)

OMG, I didn't even think that could be the cause. Wow. I noticed that a while ago SL mangled my Japanese kanji in my description. I'll remove it for now. Thank you!
