Pretend I'm blonde... (I am, I can say that!)

I have estate land, not mainland. I have several people living with me, all who want to be able to set my land as home (imagine that).

I have an update group for my stores. Each of those people living with me belong to that group.

Please, in English, in baby steps (remember, I'm blonde), tell me what to do to make it so that these people can set my land as home so they'll quit compl....bitc... pestering me.

Just a quick note and then I'll leave it to others . . . if you set an update group to having the ability to set that land as their home then everyone in that group will able to do so . . unless you can limit that to officers? Just don't make them owners to try to get this to work :)

the estate land parcel needs to be deeded to group (not just set to group) for the others in the group to be able to set it as home

make sure the roles that they have are set to allow set to home on group owned land

(if needed, make a new role for them)

Step one, deed the land to your group. You don't need to tick the "owner makes contribution" check box on estate land, it serves no useful function on estate land.

Step two, decide if you want everyone in the group to be able to set your land to their home, if that is the case then you can set this permission in the roles section of your group for the everyone role.

Step three, it's time to go to the pub!

LOL...no, not naming anyone else an owner. I don't mind who else in the group sets the land to home - they have to find it first.

Hm, which leads me to another question. I own land in a shopping mall. Whatever principal I use for the house, would I also be able to apply to the shop space? I tended to help the homeless ;)

when it comes to estate land I am not sure exactly how it works

was trying to help someone deed the land they owned on a private estate (not mainland) and even though they were the owner of the land, it would not deed to the group, they said they were doing what I said to do, but just would not deed.

I think (correct me if I am wrong) that the estate owner needs to join the group, deed it then leave the group

could someone confirm or correct this if I am wrong

Do you mean ABC Corp, who actually purchased the sim that I "bought" land on, would have to join the group/deed/leave?

I think that is how it works, if I am incorrect, someone will come by and correct me

(bit rusty with group land on private sims)

Not quite.

Chances are that the estate owner set permissions to disallow transfers or sales of the land. In that case, the estate owner just needs to change the permission temporarily, wait for you to deed the land, then change the permission back.

Some estate owners will set the permissions this way because they really don't want you reselling the land. Some just want to have veto power over anyone you sell it to. But mostly, it just protects against accidentally setting the land for sale, having the wrong person buy it, and then forcing the estate owner to resolve the mess.

On estate land you can deed land the same as mainland as long as you are the owner of the parcel. If the parcel is already group owned and you have to join that group to use the land, that's a different kettle of fish.

I didn't have to join a group when I bought the land. I don't think they have any selling restrictions. This is looking hopeful :)

Re: they have to find the land - make sure you do not have the land in your profile (picks), some, and this might already be known by you, people take snapshots of their friends and put it in their profile - if you have done that and are using your land as the pick then . . .hehe :)

What if you want to sell your deeded group land,
every one is happy, one owner, me, but are thinking to relocate.
I have 2 parcels deeded to one group, not connected, but in same sim.
Ideally I would want to sell the 2 parcels together to apply to new area for Group.
How do you revert land back to yourself?
Pretend Im umm blonde too! I kinda know but want to avoid pitfalls.

You have to resell it back to yourself for 0L... then you put if for sale to anyone. Be VERY CAREFUL when doing this transfer. You don't want to set it for sale to ANYONE for 0L.

I'm so not having it that you're a blondie!

However, you sell the land back to yourself for L$0, do not under any circumstances set the land to sale to anyone, you will lose it if you do. There is a sticky about land transfers at the top of the forum.

Now things to bear in mind, group land has a 10% bonus, if you are utilising that bonus and you sell it to yourself, you will need to purchase land quickly and deed it to the group otherwise your tier will increase.

ah so if the land is set to no resell, then you need the sim owner to deed to group (which makes sense now that you mention it) otherwise, you should be able to deed it yourself.

in essence deeding to a group, is the same as selling (ie transfering) ownership of the sim, to the group

clearer now

Thanks!

so I was partly right hehe

Allowing 'Set Home' in Deeded Group Land DOESN'T WORK
12-16-2007 09:43
Yah, I did these settings long ago, and none of my 3 alts can set to Home on the Group land, and yes, they have the Group tag when trying to do so.

Next suggestion? Thanks for anything constructive to try besides setting my alts/other Group members to Owner status.

You must allow them to set home in the group powers, as well as have the land deeded to group.

Advantages of Deeding to Group
12-16-2007 18:16
Other than group members being able to set a parcel as home, what are the advantages of a parcel owner on a private sim deeding his or hers lot to a group? The only other one I can think of would be when using auto-return. I was a little worried about being able to reclaim the lot if and when I chose but being able to sell it back to myself for $L0 seems to make sense.
