So I'm taking a ride in a blimp (pilot will not be named cuz we can't do that and besides she's already got a rep for trying to kill people in her flying machines). All of a sudden all of my surroundings go black and the coordinates at the top are spinning at a rate I've never seen before -- didn't know you could move that fast. The first coord number was up to 8600 and the last one hit Negative 3.5 million before I finally logged out. I tried TP a few times, but I think I was so far lost that it couldn't get me out of there before the TP timed out.

To the other folks in the blimp, I looked like I was sitting right there the whole time. Maybe my mouse view got really wacked -- she did keep making that darn blimp spin.

SL has really got some of the strangest bugs. Has anyone ever experienced anything like that before?

I have experienced this too, mostly when i go to sit down on say a couch or chair etc.
I get shot off into nothing, yet other people can still see me sitting there.
I have taken a few snapshots when i have been shoved to that void, as some of the angles my avatar gets distorted into are hilarious!!

You probably didn't notice, but were you crossing a sim border? I've had that happen a few times when I crossed a border at too high a speed.

The first is making shoes at night while, you know, while the old cobbler sleeps. You can bake cookies in a tree. But the third job, some call it, uh, "the show" or "the big dance," it's the profession that every linden aspires to.

was shopping once on a sim that did not have any other sims around it, and I walked outside, off of that sim and into nothingness

I was not lagged, or anything like that (I think I might still have the snapshot) my cords showed negative, but I was walking (not sink walking) but normal walking like there was land there

when I looked at the mini map and normal map there was no land there (and again my cords also showed no land)

Not the blue (up down) cords, but the other 2 were showing negatives

was strange

I teleported home and all was well

tried it again and could not walk there

It sounds like you had an Out of Avatar experience possibly due to hypoxia.

I think I was in SL hell once. Months ago, and this has only happened once, I was crossing a sim too fast (stupid, but it was back in super-noob days) and suddenly found my avatar dangling from a rope with a bunch of other avatars in the middle of nowhere o.O We all looked like a bunch of hooked fish hanging there. Wish it would happen again, would love to grab a picture.

I had the same experience flying with Annab- er, the unnamed Cartel member last time-I have a screenshot at home that shows me as a tiny white dot in a blue sea with coordinates in ranges I'd never knew existed! ;)

But it was fun nevertheless, and I'd do it anytime again! :D

Mmm, had that happen while driving a bumper car at Prim Hearts (I think it was that park) once. Glad to see it happened to a blimp passenger, maybe my SL driving skills aren't as appalling as I thought!

I was driving with a friend a long time ago when this happened:
1) Driving with my friend, Mr. Raven:

2) Mr. Raven morphed into THE THING (while Mr. Raven was actually enjoying a nice stay underground):

3) The Thing stayed in the car for a very very long time, and only disappeared when I crashed the car and The Thing slammed through the windshield.

Oooh, scary, Sonia!

It's not unusual when starting to sit to get temporarily sent into space somewhere. It usually resolves itself after a bit. Same phenomenon as when sitting and crossing sim boundary? Maybe.

Not long ago I was working on a Ferris wheel, a 20M prim with me on the seat. It needs to be physical to work right, and I'm new to physical scripts. One time I spun too hard and it flew off the hubs with me sitting on it. Fortunately I was able to click on it as the world whizzed by, and managed to stop it only 3 sims away.

Sorry you missed that ride, Jezabell, you'd have loved it!

Later, (getting back to the topic) I was adjusting the force parameter, thought I'd need just a bit more, no a bit more, no a lot more -- not realizing that one of the invisible corners was stuck on the ground. Boing, off into space I go. Not sure where I ended up, but all was black but the wheel and me, and all 3 coordinates kept going from huge positive to huge negative numbers, spinning wildly like in some bad Sci Fi movie. I had to TP home to get out. I don't know if I ever did recover that wheel in Lost+Found, or whether it's permanently in the SL Twilight Zone.

ROFL
my poor ferris wheel

I gave up on that lear

the few ppl (including yourself) that offered to try to script it, have not had good results, or never got back to me

so it sits there looking nice but useless

Oops just noticed you said 20 m prim
(mine is the 10 m prim) but I think you were trying to script your own for me, before I gave you a copy of mine

IMHO any flight or vehicle ride in SL is a death flight, they almost always end with a crash if you cross many sim borders. Its always exciting to see how long it takes to happen.

Also, sometimes the road disappears in front of you. (note this was month's later than the earlier pictures, and a different passenger)

Twosteppin', has this happened to you again, after the flight? I stopped by the Hangout last night, and you were up in the changing room. But you weren't speaking to anyone, and your av was not in the AFK slump.

Were you at coordinates far, far away?

Not sure what happened to me last night - I think my void experienced messed up SL's memory for a while. I logged back in after my death-defying plunge into total blackness, TP'd up there to try on some new clothes, and then crashed. Then when I tried to log back in it gave me some message basically saying I was already logged in - I figured 'void combined with crash' and it was still cleaning up and figuring things out. After a few trys, the 'already logged in' message stopped, but then I kept getting the other generic 'try later' message. I gave up and forced myself to play RL for the evening.
