I just recently downgraded from a 2k sq. plot to a 512. Does the monthly land fee go down after the month is up, or will it remain at the $15?

It's supposed to go down automatically, but just to be sure, go to https://secure-web10.secondlife.com/my/account/landfees.php and set your tier level to the bottom setting (USD 0.00 for just your "bonus" 512). Doing that has the additional advantage of restoring the warnings about raising your tier level if you were to accidentally try to buy more land.
