Hey guys, i've created my first package that I wish to sell. What're the best places for a newbie to rent out a stall and start selling (preferably a busy place with lots of traffic that's not too expensive)?

From: Tauro Yowman Hey guys, i've created my first package that I wish to sell. What're the best places for a newbie to rent out a stall and start selling (preferably a busy place with lots of traffic that's not too expensive)? This depends very much on what you are selling, how much you want to spend, and how many prims you need. There is a huge number of sims that have rental space available, and some of these will rent small stalls with, say, a 10 or 20 prim limit. And, needless to say, the cost will usually go up depending upon the traffic. What are you selling?

Probably would depend on what you are selling. If specialist objects then you would gain more by renting in themed sims that match your goods.
It is hard to recommend when you don't know what the person is selling.

You may want to consider Xstreet, although that's a dirty word around some parts these days Especially if you have just the one item for now, it's a good way to see what the demand for it is before you spend time and money on an inworld shop. And, believe me, we'd all like to find a shop with lots of traffic that's not too expensive Try checking the rentals forum.

I strongly suggest you to forget about xstreetSL.

NCI has a vendor plaza devoted to newbie sales. It's good for selling to other newbies without having to compete against massive marketing budgets.

From: Kyrah Abattoir I strongly suggest you to forget about xstreetSL. Beg to differ. I posted my four best selling items each on Metaverse, Slapt and MetaLife. Not ONE sale in over four weeks. Meanwhile, sales are increasing by the day over at xStreet. While I understand and appreciate the problems faced by distributors of freebies, I've yet to see the downside of selling on XStreet.

I'm selling sculpty* prim eyes, and the advert itself is only one prim. Thanks for all the suggestions. I would love to try out xStreetSL, but I don't have my own land to spawn the xStreet box on.
*Before you ask, they're inspired by "Pixar Eyes", a technique used by professional character modellers. The iris is sunken in much like real eyes.

Everyones mileage differs here but unless it's fantastically unique, desperately in demand and well marketed on Xstreet, this may NOT be a good indicator of demand of a brand new, potentially niche product. Typically I sell 100:1 in world versus xstreet. If I took xstreet as my guide, I wouldn't have bothered. xstreet suits some products better than others that is true but beware, it's not always a good way to test the market.

I've been looking at store stalls in shopping areas and they seem to be running for about 250L$/week for 50 prims. Once you get a store it's easy to drop an xstreet box in the corner. If anything it helps route people to your in-world store. Eyes are good. People are really vain in SL so if it makes them "look" good it will sell. I would suggest making several natural eye colors and a few un-natural ones as well.
