Hi there, Last night my dell laptop went on me....sooo now I'm looking into getting a new laptop but I'm really clueless when it comes to the technical stuff. I'm not really sure if this is the right part of the forum to post this, but I couldnt find a better spot. Anyway, I'm just wondering if anyone knows if this laptop would work with SL: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834115539 I checked the graphics card with SL's requirements and I didn't see it listed there so I just wasnt sure. Thank so much!

I'd say that laptop should be just fine with SL. That minimum requirements page hasn't been updated in quite a while. NONE of the GeForce 9000 series of video cards are listed on it, but all of them (plus a few other ones) are newer than the webpage itself. No worries.

The under-the-hood specs look pretty good, especially considering the price. However, to keep that price point, they do have to cut corners somewhere, and it looks like in this case, the sacrifice was the screen. The display resolution is extremely low. 1366x768 is just not a whole lot of pixels. And considering the physical size of the screen is a whopping 16 inches, the pixels are going to be huge. The result will be a blocky, grainy picture. I'd only recommend it if you have poor eyesight, and if you don't ever plan on doing any texture work.
I know this probably isn't what you want to hear, but my advice would be to throw some more money into something with a nicer screen. That's just me, though. If you don't really care about the screen, then the other specs do look good.

I noticed that it was XGA and not WSXGA too, but honestly the visual difference when I saw these two standards compared side by side wasn't that much. Edit: If that's actually a 15.4 viewable screen which is quite common, then I have the same WXGA one on MY Acer Aspire laptop and that 1366 isn't that bad.
