my first alt account

Today i decided to create my first alt.. i chose the av and the name and gave my details.

Stage 2 says i will get a verification email .. which i didnt .. is there a way to check that i didnt mispell the email address? or the password?

The password was not my original Horizon password? I though this is a new account .. so new paw .. is that incorrect?

Should i have used a different email address from my Horizon account?

I want to keep that name and not just start again so i would prefer to just alter the sign up details

if i try to log in using that new name it says unverified account

please help

If you never got the original email then you'll need to contact LL - if I remember correctly, I had to call them and provide them with the exact email that I had entered and then they reset the password for me to log in.

As im not in the US is there some link? .. phoning is not an option

You can try a Support ticket (http://secondlife.com/support/), but if you are not a Premium member that could take a while. Some folks that are not in the US will use Skype for a cheaper call.

thank you i tried a ticket .. i am a premium account holder but .. the ticket has listed me as "basic" .. soo im still waiting.....i will try Skype. Thank you so much!

For starters, LL just released a bunch of new names again, so the registration circuits may be a bit jammed. It is possible (tho unlikely) the email has been delayed. (Or got dropped )

Did you use any of the alternate orientation zones? Or did you "skip this step" and sign up directly thru LL's new user registration? When you registered, you entered a pw, but if you try to log in to the web site (not a client) you get what exactly? "unverified"? That sounds un-good. You may try regging again and see if it does in fact state the name is taken. Periodically attempt re-reg. I do not know if LL releases names back into the pool which were not verified, nor how long it would be held in reserve. Particularly tho, I would try just after 24hrs and 48hrs since your first attempt.

For future reference, signing up with a unique email per avatar is sometimes helpful. What pw you use is irrelevant as long as you can remember it. (you did remember the pw correct? numbers, or any upper-case?) I tend to reg with one version of my pw, and then immediately try to log in to the web site with that pw. Once logged, I change to a different version of my pw. It just makes me feel more confident it's really really in their database. Also if you reg thru one of the other portals, *their* customer service can help you with these things and IME are easier to get ahold of than LL's CS.

If you botched the account sign-up, and really want the specific name, you can file a support ticket under the "Can't access account" category, even as a free account. Explain in the ticket what name you signed up for, and what you thought you typed in as the e-mail, and that you got no verificatin e-mail. They can look, and if it was a simple typo in the e-mail, they can fix that, and/or give you a link for resumung the sign-up process. This is the ONLY way that particular name will ever be available again. They never free an "unused" name back up, once it's been started in the process, except on reqquest to the person who started the process.

If you use some of the third party registration sites (like Big Pond), you do not specify a password, but get sent a random one in an email. In those cases, you need that email or need the password reset, which only LL can do.
