You know how there's that rez point on the road just the other side of the North Channel Bridge inside Molesworth in Bay City, well; is there a rez point for boats anywhere around Bay City. Also does anyone know what LL plan to do with the mooring bays at New Port, will they (or have they) come up for sale. You can't rez anything there so I guess you can't moor a boat there iether. Seems a shame to have a City built around the water, with canals and access to the sea and yet not be able to get onto the water. And I'm sure before the land came up for sale I saw boats using the canals which suggests a communal rez point somewhere. Astrid

Another thing you can do is just rez your boat on land and edit it over to the water. Some of the privately owned places on the canals have build enabled. My place in Argos does. I think Mari's place in Imaginario does. There should be several more.

Tried that at the Molesworth rez location on the road, then spent an embarrassing few moments heaving a sail boat across somebody's newly purchased land into the water. Then discovered that sail boats also suffer from the fun effects of questionable sim to sim handovers - there being a boundary just next to the bridge..I found it the hard way.. Astrid

From: Argos Hawks I think Mari's place in Imaginario does. Yup! An given the massive water balloon fight dat jes happened at my store, I'm sure you could sail in the parking lot out front.

Sailing the canals is not fun. On like the day after Bay City was first announced as open, I took my Windsurfer there (I found, somehow, like a little 64m rezz point off shore). I sailed into Bay City and up the canals, but I couldn't get past any bridges. Perhaps they'll open for that mysterious water trolley I've never seen; but they wouldn't open for my windsurfer.

I went kayaking and for some reason my kayak sat extra low in the water. Eventually it just sank and kept going. I ended up paddling in mid-air half a sim away. It made for some cool pics and underground sight-seeing but not what I was looking for. Additionally, the high sides of the canals felt very uncomfortable and made it difficult to cam around.

Marianne McCann and I went on a fun and wild ride in my new hovercraft last night in Bay City. Rezzed the hovercraft at Mari's store in Imaginario, and edited it over into the canal beside her store.
My hovercraft (bought from a Bay City merchant) is low enough that I don't need to raise the bridges. But when we got to the first few, I did raise them. On each side of each bridge, there is a rectangular sign on the right side, roughly at road bed level and positioned so they can be seen from the canal. Click those, and the bridges will open.
We actually did most sim edge crossings seamlessly, even at high speed. 40+ sim crossings, and I only "dipped down" maybe three times. And that was when I was driving the hovercraft on the roads, and not on the water.
At the very least, then need to designate the obvious boat ramps as places where one can rez a vehicle! I couldn't find a single place at the water's edge that was actually intended as a place one could rez a boat.

Hi Dakota, you need to press the bridge signal (it is usually located on the right just before the bridge, on the wall) to open them. The Ferry opens these bridges automagically.

My friend Gypsy has a free canoe ride dock too right on the canal.

It's kinda cool to meet other Bay Area residents as we all go throguh and visit each other's plots. < /threadjack > From: Bodhisatva Paperclip I went kayaking and for some reason my kayak sat extra low in the water. After finding the Aquatic Rez Point, I thought I'd go for a sail yesterday evening... approaching the lighthouse at Moose Beach.. then into Battery Passage.. There's some really great sailing and some super scenery to be found between Battery Passage and Miramere Bay, I recommend everyone gets their boats out there on the water..enjoy!! Astrid PS thanks Perre for helping me out with the pics

From: Astrid Schwade Hmm..not bad..but check this out.. Aren't these "real sailing physics" vessels awesome? Last night I was sailing Bay City again, and I took a crosswind under full sail and had trimmed too tight. My brig capsized. No, seriously - it actually CAPSIZED and sunk! I had to re-rez and start over. Someone needs to build a temple to the scripter.
