Hi. We have a private island that we would like to open to visitors. Can anyone tell me how to do this.

You must be renting the Island, or do not own it. Speak with the Estate Manager for the Island.

Thanks. We got a company to develop our site but they have disappeared and we cant get in contact with them. D'you know if there is a mechanism to transfer ownership to us.

So the company owns the island? Not you?

They are paying the monthly fee to LL to keep the island going? or you are?

/me is slightly confused.

No. we're paying the bills. But its the person who designed the site who is named as the Estate manager.

Then they must own the island. If you were paying the bills, you would be the Estate Owner. To be clear, you are paying money straight to Linden Lab, or.. to who?

Then YOU should be the estate manager.

Whoever purchases the island is made an Estate manager, You might want to ensure LL has you on record for ownership, or the sim could be sold. I don't get why the development company would take you off estate manager if you own the sim. You paid the USD $1675 setup fee?

Yup we paid the money and just recently paid the second year. We didnt discover this situation until we tried to open up the island. The developer is named as the Estate Manager. We've tried to contact them but they wont reply to emails of IM.

If I contact LL and show them proof we are paying the bills would they set us up as Estate Owners?

How bizarre... this is why everyone I've ever known has worked with someone else gets them to buy the land and have it in their name, then get the developer added as an estate manager and in the necessary group settings to do everything, rather than them "own" the land then transfer it to you at the end.

Whose name comes up as owner when you click the tab at the top middle of your screen where the region name is displayed?

the avatar that is paying the bill to LL is the estate owner and he can access the estate tools regardless of managers status or not

who pays the bill needs to change it and add you as estate manager so you can access these options aswell

That's the Land Tab, not the Estate Tab. I understand the Issue now. Go to About Land, On the General Tab, and near the bottom will be a button that says "Reclaim Land..." Press that, and you will regain control of the parcel. :)

i`m at a loss as i have no clue what your doing

the avatar NAME (ingame) that pays the bills directly to LL is the estate ownerand can access the estate tools at all times

are you trying to to do it with Motherwell Merlin or with your own avatar?

this should all be pretty much straight forward as there is only 1 system in place for ownership

the avatar when logging in automaticly has all the access to everything and doesn`t have to be set, he can also tp in at any time regarding to what is set, God of no where :)

I'd suggest calling Linden Lab's concierge support line. If they are taking the monthly island fees from your account then you are a concierge customer and you have access to concierge support.

If you don't have the phone number, follow the support link on any of the secondlife.com web page and either file a ticket or do the live chat thing. The phone number might also be listed in the support area.

When you go to 'about land -> covenant' if it shows your name as the estate owner, then you *should* have the access and abilities that everyone else has mentioned. If those things aren't happening then LL is probably your best bet.

Good luck.
