The only object bonus reference I can find in the Knowledge Base says this:

Object Bonus (Private Regions only)

If you are the owner or Estate Manager of a Private Region, you can set a global Object Bonus for all parcels in the Region. To do this:

1. Select World > Region/Estate from the top menu bar.
2. Make sure you are on the Region tab of the Region/Estate window.
3. Set an Object Bonus multiplier, and click Apply.

The Object Bonus is a multiplier for primitives allowed on any given parcel, and may have a value between 1.0 and 10.0. Set at 1.0, each 512m2 parcel is allowed 117 objects. Set at 2.0, each 512m2 parcel is allowed 234, or twice as many, and so on. The max number of objects allowed per region remains 15,000 no matter what the Object Bonus is. Once set, be aware that lowering the Object Bonus may cause objects to be returned or deleted. The default setting for Object Bonus is 1.0.

I am bumping you to an 8.5 on the Official Trout Measuring Instrument of Sluttiness. You are an enigma - on the one hand a sweet, gentle, intelligent woman who we would like to wrap up in our arms and protect, and on the other, a temptress to whom we would like to do all sorts of unmentionable things.

Congratulations and shame on you! You are a bit of a slut.

This is a user setting on privately owned sims - it allows a set parcel to hold more than the usual 117prims per 512 m2 land (the factors are 1, 1.5 ad 2). I don't know if it applies to privately owned Mainland, but it does apply to "islands".

That said, it can only work within the total prim setting. For example, an island allows for 15000 prims - that number can't be exceeded for the sim as a whole.

The setting can only be adjusted by the sim owner (& Estate Manager, I think)

Yes, it works like this. Suppose you have a private island sim. The size is 256 x 256 sqm = 65,536sqm in total, and the prim allocation from LL (standard) is 15,000.

If you now split the island into a 3x5 grid, ie 15 plots, of 4369sqm per plot, each plot would have 15,000 / 15 = 1000 prims allocated. That is, if the object bonus is set to 1 (the default value.

Supose now that you only want to rent out 12 of those 15 plots, and have the other 3 plots as a park, or a beach, and you want to allocate 1000 prims to make the park or beach nice.

You now have 14000 prims, and only 12 tenants, and you want to allocated them the unused prims from your 3 park plots.

Well, 14,000 / 12 = 1166 prims, but the current limit for each plot is 1000 prims. In order to give your tenants the extra prims you must increase the object bonus to 1.166 (because 1.1666 * 1000 = 1166).

This does not mean that the allocation of prims for the whole island is now 1.166 * 15000, it means that on each plot 1166 prims can be used UNTIL the limit of 15000 is reached, as this limit never changes and is fixed.

Hope that clears this up for you.

Ah, okay. I own land on the mainland, so that's why I've never heard about it before.
