I'm using "Second Life for Dummies". I know how to move and rotate things using edit. I want to learn how to color a prim. Pretty simple, huh? No. The book (pg 207) gives me 5 steps to color a prim. 1. Right click a prim and choose Edit.(I do that and the edit tool appears.) 2.Click the More button. ALERT-UGH-GRIEF: Therre isn't any More button anyway in the Edit window, or elsewhere. o I go to the next step: 3. Click the Texture tab.
By this time the prim is a yellow color, and when I proceed to choose a pale blue for the prim, I ge a pale green color on the prim, as if it has mixed the yellow with the blue.
Can someone help. Please? And THANKS.

there are 2 boxes in the texture tab. One for a texture and one to change color.
If the TEXTURE box has a yellow texture in it and you choose blue in the COLOR box you will likely get a mix ie green.
If you just want BLUE you need to click the TEXTURE box and then click the BLANK button. The choose BLUE in the COLOR box

I think they might have finally gotten rid of the "more" button.
If you ever need to get rid of a color on a prim, select the white to blank it out again. You can also click on the texture window and blank out the wood texture.
In-world groups tend to be more up to date with SL updates than books are able to be. Search in groups for building, also check in events under education. There are building classes which happen every day. Feel free to IM me as well.
