Sketchlife (Sketchup to SL)

Has anyone tried Sketchlife? How were the results?

It is basically hosted realxtend. Which is basically opensim with mesh.

I could build that "Hello World" on SL as quickly as in Sketchup, and save L$14 and a lot of time.

The 'Hello World' video was just a demonstration of the process, not a speed test with SL.

I reproduced the Anubia Palace I built in SL in Sketchup in a tiny fraction of the time. Never having to worry about alignment in Sketchup is a huge speed plus. There is simply no comparison with the speed of construction in Sketchup compared with SL.

The main benefit of any tool that can get Sketchup objects into SL is not just limited to speed of building, it is the instant access to millions of objects/builds in the Google 3D Warehouse that is its main attraction, and they are all free. If you are concerned about cost try comparing these:

I am still working on a Meerkat <> Sketchup converter, which will be free when I have finished it.

I am still hoping to hear from anyone who has actually used the Sketchlife product.

If you have a better product on the way, one that doesn't involve giving a third party debit permission, I'd love to see it. But you asked for impressions of this product, and this video, and this video showed someone doing a worse job than I could do in SL (he screwed up the alignment of the bottom bar of the "E" and copied the error to the "L"s), and spending more time doing it.

Just found this old thread while browsing the forums. Who IS that devil Jack Belvedere, and WHY is he relevant?

He was pulled up as creator of the palace our good buddy Rock claims to have build.

Ahhh!! And here I was just thrilled to see my name LOL..is it anything I should concern myself with? The place apparently is gone from SL, you can't teleport to it.

Nothing to concern yourself with Jack. The Anubia Palace which I built using textured blocks from your Temple/Bath showed you as creator when someone examined the build, and tried to imply that I had not built the Anubia Palace.

The Anubia Palace is no longer in SL, but has been recreated in my Opensim, using the textures you donated. It is not connected to any grid (standalone mode only). You are welcome to come visit the Palace (just send me a PM and I can send you the log-in details).

i think it would be neat if i could use it while the grid was down..fiddle with something while i am out of world..a lot of times i would like to just build without logging in..

i think it would be neat if we could save those as files..kind of like notes for buld we want to do in world..

i wouldn't do the whole import thing..it would be nice to just toy with if ideas came up and i didn't feel like getting on the grid..

Who are you and why are you relevant ? How rude don't you just hate people who post absolute nonsense in topic lines with no real purpose other than to jeer or scoff or just be stupid.

Jack Belvedere is a hockey god on SL I would watch questioning who "he" is in any SL environment else you may end up smothered by physical objects such as hockey pucks or old jock straps. A thing to ponder before you place such items in general chat 0. I suggest using /666 as you communications for such comments oh and really in world do us all a favor and use alt f4 before you post any chat at all.
