oldest usable viewer #

Hey all, i did something dumb today..but to cut a long story short am getting tired of going through viewers only to come up with a black screen and nothing else??
I cannot remember the viewers number i was going well with?
And yes my PC is pretty old........but she was fine with SL till todays stuffing around with downloads. /me bangs head on desk

perhaps 1.19.05?
does nicholaz still have a pre-windlight viewer?
no matter which one you use, insert '--channel tinkerbell' into the shortcut to bypass the forced viewer updates.

not sure nicholaz is still maintained but cool sl viewer has a 1.19 version with all the latest securety patches and fixes.

that is a prewindlight viewer? i am pretty sure there is one that still works. that may be it.

You can use Nicholaz BE version which lays on top of the LL 1.18.5.3 version -- and that is pre-windlight.

aaahh, can finally post without the expired web page, thanks to Void's excellent sticky I came across just now : ).
Anyway thanks heaps to Nina, Abigail and Little me Jewel for trying to help me with my crusty old XP prob.
Unfortunately still couldnt get it sorted, so saved and saved for a well overdue PC.
Now i can finally see water reflections etc..SL is so pretty...am addicted again!!

I use the first viewer mentioned almost exclusively and am still quite happy with it. I use the Cool Viewer when I want to check something in All Search (not very often) and downloaded the Emerald Viewer just to check it out. It's a nice viewer but has the larger chat windows that cannot be sized down like the earlier viewers/Nicholaz can. So I don't use it much either.

There was something about yesterday being the last day for support of the 1.21 viewer. I don't know if that means that everything prior to 1.23 will simply stop working, or if it just means they're not guaranteed to work in the future.

I'm still using Cool Viewer 1.19.5 and am not having any problems.

I think it might just be regarding the 1.21 official LL viewer. The third party ones usually bypass the version checking anyway.

I've said this before, in only half jest, that having LL stop supporting a viewer can be a blessing.

If it gets to the point that I can't use my old Nicholaz or Cool Viewer, I will have to stop being in SL as I absolutely cannot afford a new computer. Plus, the one I have works just fine with everything else I need to do.

Reminds me of a comment from my guildleader when I was playing EQ and a new expansion was released that greatly increased the basic PC specs: "I just had to pay $200 to play a $30 game."

In my case, I would have to spend more than $200 to be in an ostensibly free 3D world (assuming one wasn't a Premium member.)

I'm in the same boat..at least temporarily. I plan on replacing this machine at the end of the year, so if the 3rd party viewers did stop working, I would be on SL vaca for a few months at least.
