ok, so...
the company I work for is developing a searchable directory of SL locations that will allow you teleport directly from the website to listed sims-
it's a HUD based system that's in the alpha-phase, right now- but will be open for public use in the near future (i.e.- submit your own listings.) and will always be a FREE service.
it's up on the website now, if you want to figure it out- but this isn't an ad for them...
a few of us are collecting listings for the initial launch- and I find, being geeky builder types, that we're somewhat lacking in a few categories- most notably, hangouts and music venues.
we're also maybe not the most fashionable lot, so shopping suggestions might be a good idea, too.
I'm going to spend the next few days exploring bits of SL that I've never really looked at- sooo... if you have some recommendations, I'd love a little guidance from residents in-the-know.
thanks in advance- lt.

Sounds like a great idea. We actually have made lists of stores in the forums before. Try the forum search for things like best hair, best skins, men's clothes, etc. There are just so many categories of things to list.

Sounds like a survey.
Where's my cheese?

nah, not a survey (although, I suppose, by definition a "survey" is collecting information, so maybe it is a survey...)
and the cheese would be having a sim you think is worthy getting a listing in the directory, thereby increasing traffic, perhaps increasing business- in turn, stimulating the SL economy and generally boosting morale- and possibly- just possibly- saving the whole human race.
but if you're ok with people weeping in the streets and your grandmothers going without their kasha and bowties, just keep your landmarks to yourself. that's fine.
bree, thanks for the tip- I have been combing the forums and blogs I can find for good suggestions, and will continue to hope that the kind citizens of the forum care enough about our grandmothers to post some ideas for music venues and conversation spots, here.
fighting the good fight- LT

From: LittleToe Bartlett but if you're ok with people weeping in the streets and your grandmothers going without their kasha and bowties, just keep your landmarks to yourself. that's fine. Hey! I you don't know me... and you certainly don't know my bowties! I love my bowties. There, there, little ties... daddy's here. Don't be frightened.

Been there, not found that. Any clues what it looks like in-world? The HUD, that is?
Edit: nevermind. Found it.

well, I've just been informed that the HUD (created by Ordinal Malaprop) is available for public testing... you can grab a copy at Greenies, but you have to be registered on the Rezzable website to use it (registration is free). thanks, Slack, for the link and the information- that's a really cool system you've got going on... and thanks to those who have sent me landmarks inworld, too... keep 'em coming
